FABBY: 5 de Mayo Tablescape

Hello sweet friends!

My table scape is for "5 de Mayo," Mexican holiday to celebrate the victory of an inferior Mexican army defeating a much more powerful French army in 1862! France had been occupying Mexico prior to the battle, at that time.

I never knew about this date while growing up in NY, except because of some of you, my blog friends who make settings for this date and I also did my Internet homework about it.

My inspiration for making a '5 de Mayo' table setting in honor of Mexico is my "Ikat tablecloth"made here, in Ecuador.

The 'Ikat fabric' is also used for the confection of beautiful clothing here in Ecuador; as it's also made by hand in looms and also died with vegetable coloring.

This cloths come in multi-colors; as well as brown and white, black and white, camel and white, white and black, red and black, blue and white...actually, all colors and combos in the rainbow!            They are simply beautiful!

I will make a post to show you clothing with the Ikat material in the near future.

So without any further addo here is my '5 de Mayo table scape for 2014.'

Here is my hand made tablecloth in the Ikat technique and died in vegetable colors! I might add that it washes beautifully, even though is natural wool too!

I used some of my everyday china salad plates, square colorful ones from our Factory on top of yellow plates and to finish the stack, my wicker and cane chargers.   (why, why didn't I take my computer cables out before I took the pics?)

Here you can appreciate the pretty designs and colors in the Ikat material I had made several years ago and later put together the two shawls to create this colorful tablecloth I love!

I used yellow dinner plates for all four place setting and in this case with a blue square one and a yellow salad plate from my everyday dishes.

A square yellow plate with a blue and white salad plate.

The chargers are wicker and cane in the center of each one; along with a green square plate and orange salad plate.

White square plate and green salad plate. The small pitcher is made at our former Factory, along with the terracotta chicken napkin ring.

Cute color glasses for the 'Tequila' and a bowl fool with dry chilies hubby loves and he also painted the bowl back at his 'Ceramic Factory.'

I used 'Roos and Chicks' napkin rings and a cute hot sauce bowl... both items were made at our 'former ceramic Factory, Monte Turi.' Alejandro sold it six years ago.

Four of a set of six cute 'Tequila' glasses in different colors.
A terracotta Rooster napkin ring.

I chose green water glasses for this setting with matching green napkins inside the smaller Ikat ones.

I love the fringes and all the great colors in the Ikat. I used two shawls sewn in the middle to make the tablecloth, that's why the fringes.

A final evening shot!

Thank you for visiting me wonderful friends, as your comments always make my day!

Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me at their parties too.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Rosary Prayer - April Tea

Hello sweet friends!

As many of you know, I host a Rosary prayer with a group of friends the fourth Wednesday of every month, therefore it was yesterday and I took some photos of the Tea table, and I also explained before that it's a simple tea gathering, not a regular high-tea as we usually like to do.

I served homemade Brioche bread from my blog friend April, who always shares the greatest recipes at, "Dimples and Delights"! Store bought Sesame-seed buns, along with Dutch cheese and home made strawberry and blackberry jams, with tea or coffee.

I also decided I will be serving in different dishes every time and for the April's Rosary my choice was the red English transfer ware; which they all loved!

OK, here it is.

Happy May First to all of you!

The tablecloth I used for this tablescape is this lovely crocheted one mother made for me many years ago and she also made for my two daughters, and her Dil in other lovely patterns also.

I acquired my red transfer ware complete tea service for twelve place-settings, two years ago brought from Europe by the Antique store specially for me.

Some of you who follow me know that I've been collecting, in the past 7-8 months the blue and white transferware as well, because Alejandro prefers it for the dinner ware and I obligued, very easily, as I love it so much together! He paid for the 12 each of the dinner plates, soup bowl and salad plates, so I couldn't be happier!

Bakery store bought delish sesami-seed buns.

The centerpiece flower vase was made at our former ceramic company.

The sterling tea spoons were used at my Mother's First Communion reception for 24 my grandma hosted for her when she was only 7 years old. Mother is now 84!

Anyway, my dear mom gave me a set of 12 tea spoons...and since I have the ivory and silver butter knives, they go perfectly together at tea time!

The butter knife-rests are silver 'Dachshund' dogs...which are so cute!

The tea service contains two teapots, two creamers and one sugar bowl, plus a tray and two salad bowls; one is shown here with the bread buns and the tray with my brioche bread.

This is the third time I made this delicious Brioche bread from our blog friend, April, who has a great food blog named: "Dimples and Delights." If you haven't visited yet, go now, don't miss her recipes!

My home made blueberry jam.

The teacup and saucer up front is a vintage Wedwood and the one in the back is a new made one, I think. I have six of each.

The flower-vase in the centerpiece was made by us at our former ceramic company.

At left both home-made blueberry jam and at your right the strawberry one.

I pulled out the marble tray in the Antique Belgium buffet to set the tea chest, glasses and water some ladies always seem to request, including me, lol..

My best friend gave me the tea chest with pewter work on top for my 50th. birthday and was made by her very talented sister.

The glasses are etched and are Bohemian from the Czech Republic.

Thank you so much sweet friends for your visits, as you always make my day!

Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: My Italian Buffet is Clean!

Hello sweet friends!

I didn't have much to do this Sunday, so I've been in my hands and knees cleaning my Italian sideboard and glass hutch!  I've been putting it off for quite some time, so the day finally arrived when I materialized my 'good intentions!'

Here it is, all spick and span, inside and out!  I'm very proud of myself, as this poor darling was the dirtiest, I think ...and the last one I cleaned in the past two months.

Here you have it...sparkling!

Here is my Italian style side board with glass hutch, all cleaned, inside and out, taking the last piece for dusting and cleaning the glass doors and shelves.
I am so happy I finally did it!

Glare all over as it's shining, the glass and mirror background.

I always wanted the glass hutch to hold some of my crystal things and antique tea sets, and the silver tea set I bought in Astoria-Queens many years ago.

I like to keep it looking light and ethereal; without china.

I fell in love with the entire dining set twenty two years ago when hubby gave me for my 40th. birthday, as a surprise! I explained sometime ago and the friends that follow me might remember the story behind it.

I fell for the gorgeous work in this entire piece and the glass hutch really got me!

I love tassels!

This beautiful piece is great for using it as a serving buffet in the sides of the glass hutch.
See how it goes with the lovely marquetry in the dining table?

My entire reticulated dishes for twelve are in the left under cabinet, along with my Mil's French stemware.

The center part is containing a couple of chinas...the one for sixteen piece servings and the upper one with our oldest china from the 70's for twelve settings, among other things.

Look at part of my pink croc shoe, lol!

I took out each drawer and cleaned and dusted too... this one was a little tough and very tiring...shish!

Look how clean and neat it looks now!

Thank you for visiting me sweet ladies and, as you always make my day!

Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: A Simple Lace Tablescape

Hello sweet friends!

I am joining Kathleen's at Let's Dish for her new challenge...a NEW table with NO Easter!

My table setting is simple, inspired in the lovely lace-cut work tablecloth, which I haven't used it yet and bought on sale last year sometime.

The reticulated chargers and teacup-saucers; my mother's lovely vintage aqua 'French Limoges' set of dishes and lace napkins to close this 'simple lace table scape.'

I hope you like it!

My inspiration for this table scape is this lovely lace cut work tablecloth I bought on sale last year.

Therefore, along with mother's French Limoges dishes she gifted me several years ago...I used reticulated chargers, lace napkins and the reticulated teacups and saucers, instead of the aqua ones.

The fresh bouquet of flowers I bought today in the grocery store for $. 1,15.
The etched stems are Viennese and I used only the wine ones, so to keep the setting in the 'ethereal side.'

I love the center lace in the cloth.

The Limoges dishes are aqua and ivory, (not white).

I adore fresh flowers and always have them at my house to cheer me up and enjoy them.

Alejandro gave me this past February for our 39th. Anniversary this gorgeous 'Fleur De Lys' Portuguese pitcher, which I can't seem to stop using it with flowers, lol!

The stack of dishes and ivory flatware to match, except the light made them appear yellow !

The napkins are ivory with lace too, as are the lacy saucers in the teacups.
The napkin rings are wooden animal print.

Here you have it, my contribution to "A new Tablescape for LET'S DISH" at,  http://www.cuisinekathleen.com

Thank you so much for visiting me dear friends, you always make my day!

Thank you Kathleen and the other hostesses for having me at their great parties.

FABBY

FABBY: Easter Sunday Blessings!

Hello sweet friends!

"Christ the Lord is risen to-day,"
Sons of men and angels say.
Raise your joys and triumphs high;
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply.
(Charles Wesley)

"HAPPY AND BLESSED EASTER TO ALL OF YOU AND YOURS"

I created this new vignette on my antique English buffet for the Easter season.
'Blue Danube' platter standing in the backdrop.

Vintage Dutch pewter teaset with tray.  Polish teacups with birds.
I saw the movie "The Son of God" Saturday and I cried the entire time until sweet Jesus got killed in the cross and resuscitated! The actor who portrayed Jesus was soo sweet, you thought you were looking at the real Messiah !

Then on Easter Sunday, after mass, we went in the evening to see "Noah," the movie and it was such an ugly disappointment...and grim movie! Noah was portrayed as a 'psychopath'...it seemed to me!

I didn't like it at all, as the real Noah in the Bible was not like this man in the movie!

'My humble reviews, lol!'

Have a wonderful week ahead and may our Lord Jesus Christ, who has risen to save us, guide us and care for us.... bless you and your homes always.

Thank you for your wishes and comments, you always make my day.

Thanks to the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties, too.
