Hello sweet friends !
I fixed this small table for a friend's birthday, who is one of the caregivers that work for my mother.
Since most of you that follow me know, my mom had a stroke last year, February. I had to move her close to me as she needs a lot of care now and I was so fortunate to find an apartment right at the floor just under us.
Valeria is one of the young woman that takes care of her, specially on weekends and her birthday was the 3rd. of this month. I was also visiting our daughter Sofia three hours away; so it's a few days belated.
So, I baked the Xmas 'Gingerbread House' for her, which is a 'Nordic Ware' bundt pan I bought while Maxima, five, was here and we baked the cute house a couple of times.
She loved to eat the chimney first, lol...
The recipe for the Gingerbread house that came right in the carton is totally delicious. Now I'm adding, walnuts, dry fruit, etc., for the Holiday and gifting it too.
I decided to use my tea cups and tea set of red transferware, which I love come Xmas... and always too.
Valeria is the birthday girl.
She takes care of my mom on the weekends.
The Christmas 'Gingerbread House' was very appropriate for this time of year.
The recipe came in the carton of the bundt pan and let me tell you, it is delicious ! "GINGERBREAD CAKE" www.nordicware.com
I also added walnuts, cranberry and some dry orange I had and it came out delish and festive.
You can also incorporate coconut flakes, in the batter, or in the roof as snow, on a white sugar icing so it sticks.
I took advantage that I fixed the Xmas tree by the foyer table, so I thought it would be great to celeb by my new flocked tree as well.
My tree is also a memory tree, as I mentioned once. I have ornaments since we first got married, from way back at 1975.
My Nutcracker collection is growing and growing each year since, at least 10-12 years ago when I started with two that my mom gave me for my birthday, in Oct.
At least half of them, or more, are gifts.
The little Xmas Gingerbread house is such a cutie. I could probably decorate it more next time, with a white sugar glaze. I'll look it up.
In case anyone is interested is a 'Nordic Ware' pan.
I'm sure there are other brands with the adorable shape of Gingerbread houses too.
Thank you so much dear friends for your generous comments, you always make my day !
Thanking the lovely hostesses for their inspiring parties.
LOVE,
FABBY

ReplyDeleteSo pretty and how sweet to honor such a nice lady. Caring for the elderly is a gift because they are caring for the family as well. Thanks for sharing this! I hope you can come back to the Fabulous party. I was late getting the party stated but it is live now.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet gesture. I hope you had a wonderful holiday! The #HomeMattersParty is back this week and I look forward to seeing what you have been up to.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Fabby!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Christmas, too. I do love nutcrackers and my mother had quite a collection. When she passed away, she had already told us to split them up and so as we cried and laughed our way through that whole time (she died December 5th, 2004), we each picked the nutcrackers we loved most off Mom's decorated mantel (my sister-in-love Kim had decorated it).
For college, I sent our son nutcrackers since he loved them so, and I think I will give him Charles and mine eventually. Right now it isn't his decor, since he and his wife are still newly married, but eventually they will come back out. I hope he will enjoy them in the future...
I imagine Valeria had a wonderful time coming over to tea! Your table is beautiful and don't you just love red transferware?? Soooo pretty!!! I'll probably pull mine out for Valentine'd Day and do something fun with my pieces... I am happy to have featured your post at this week's Share Your Style #287 (1/6/21). I took a couple of weeks off from it since so many bloggers take this time off to be with family. <3
Enjoy your lovely home and again, Happy New Year's to you,
Hugs,
Barb :)
