FABBY: I Love my Anniversary Gifts!

Hello sweet friends, hope you are having a great weekend!

Alejandro asked me what I wanted for our 38th. Anniversary, which was February 25th. The friends that have followed me lately, in post before this one, I featured a tablescape I designed for both of us. I usually got perfume in the past, but I guess now hubby wanted me to get the present myself! Just the day before, they called me from the European Antique shop, to inform me that a couple of containers came in with beautiful things from Europe. Therefore...do I need to explain any further, NO!! I headed straight to that shop and here is what I got from my sweet hubby. I gave him a perfume he loves...just in case you think it's only one way, lol!

The first piece I got is this beautiful antique from the 20's; French Opaline flower vase; hand decorated, like they were in those days. The pretty plate hand decorated too, was from my Mil and it's English, Oetzmann & Co., London. I love it that it has pink flowers and looks so pretty next to my new hand decorated vase.

A closer shot of the beautiful hand designed pattern of the white antique French Opaline vase, I'm crazy about!

My second gift is this gorgeous three tier Royal Albert, Lady Carlyle, which of course, I couldn't NOT bring it home with me...wouldn't you?!
Look how beautiful it is! I have dishes in pink from my Mil and a Bavarian complete tea set. I can't wait to make a tea party with these together!

The pretty crochet runner was made by my mother, along with a tablecloth in the same pattern.
The last, but not least are these lovely crystal, vintage glasses from Venice..in green and red. Unfortunately, there's only seven of them, but I bought them anyhow!

The liquor canister with yellow in it, was a gift from my Mil to Alejandro and it's an antique with six little glasses too, (not shown). The brown one is a beautiful etched decanter Bohemian, Czech..a gift from his cousins' for Alejandro's 40th. birthday party.
The white lace like is embossed in the glass...aren't they pretty?

This folding, antique X chair I bought myself, a little over three years ago and I wanted to share it with you, as we just received a book on antiques from hubby's old aunt, "The Pleasure of Antiques"...where I just saw the same chair and here is a little story of it.

"This chair appeared early in the history of European Furniture, in the 14th.-15th. centuries, as we know from paintings and manuscripts, although few survived. Originally designed to fold, they evolved into the type shown here with a fixed back. This one, in the book, is said to have belonged to Girolamo Savonarola (1452-98), the Italian preacher and reformer".
My X shaped folding chair, with wolves heads at the finials and which forms part of my mostly ornamental collection of chairs.

LOVE,
FABBY

Thank you in advance darling friends for the lovely and kind comments you send me, they always make my day!!

FABBY: Our 38th. Anniversary Table

Hello my sweet friends!

Today is our 38th. Wedding Anniversary. We got married in Las Vegas, Nevada...yes, there!... in the "Little White Chappel," one Tuesday 25th. of 1975, lol.. I was living in Westwood, LA at the time, with a job in fashion, at Rodeo Drive. Therefore, hubby went there and we made it fast with my room-mate, Cindy Rosen and her boy friend as witnesses. Than we headed to NY to see my parents and finally, got married by the Catholic Church, here in Ecuador. Everything was great, it felt like such an adventure.. you all know how we are when young; but to our surprise, our "adventure" lasted up to now and for ever and I hope for another 37 years if our Lord wants it that way. Thank you so much for coming to wish us happiness and to see the table I made in our honor.

The blue and white tablecloth is Indian and so not to take away from the china I placed a white organza, made in Spain on top of it. The chargers you will see are pewter. I have 12 of them and 12 bread plates to match.

We used to call this china, "Carnations," in our past ceramic company, where we made it. I selected this pattern because this particular pattern are Alejandro's dishes, as mine are the one with the birds, like my header. This "carnation-pattern" you will find it mostly in the Ecuadorian indigenous women's blouses.

As a centerpiece I used a cloche on top of a pedestal from the same china and with two "love birds," inside a hey-thatch nest. Up front is a small, hot sauce bowl with a cute red hot pepper.

The sherbet bowl on top of the salad plate. The stem ware is French from my Mil.
The sherbet bowl. This china, as well as mine, has many pieces.. more than 100 pieces. The ones that have followed me know I shared in a post the entire 350 pieces of mine, last month.
The big platter with it's undulated edges, and hand decorated in a doily manner.

The dinner plate, with the hand decorated carnations inside it, as well.
 The pretty soup bowl.

The place setting. The salad plate, at your upper right.. in the doily pattern as well. This china came with some pieces in mix and match patterns, like the big serving platter and salad plates.
Here in this small tray are two demitasse cups for espresso with a small silver spoon with jade handles.
The small cloche with the nesting "love birds."
The under blue and white tablecloth is Indian and it's so pretty. I didn't want the pattern to take away from the dishes, so I chose a Spanish organza, transparent table topper in white too.

At your left the white napkin ring with a little blue butterfly.
Here you have it, our 38th. Anniversary table 2013. I pray to God He grants Alejandro and me, many more happy years together.

Thank you my lovelies for your visits to wish us a happy anniversary..caz I know you will...you, generous bunch!

Thanking in advance to the wonderful hostesses for having us today.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Going with Animal Print

Hello my dear friends, hope all is well with you!

After looking at some interior designing blogs, like Stacy's, South Shore Decorating Blog and interior decor magazines, showing how animal prints are still alive and well..I too decided I should go a little more in this direction, for my yellow family room's couches, as I always just love it! I have a gorgeous Scandinavian vintage chair that was Alejandro's old uncle, who died long ago; who in turn gave it to his brother, hubby's father, and lastly, my Mil gave it to us.. a little over thirty years ago and Alejandro bought around that same time a piece of "real leopard" skin from a man that sold it to him. Than, I thought this chair would look fabulous painted black and upholstered with the leopard skin...remember that in those days there was no PITA, lol! Ok, here you have it and I hope you like my new "faux animal skin" pillows too. For a note, I don't wear my fur coats any more!

I decided one day that I should have some new animal print pillows done and went and bought a soft plush material; to place in our den's -family room couches, which we had reupholstered last year in a soft yellow, which is a great color for any animal prints. I had one for each couch made.
I moved to the den this Scandinavian chair, which I had it in the foyer, which we upholstered in real leopard skin, around thirty years ago. The new faux leopard pillow at your right, from a week ago.
Here is one of the new pillows in the big couch. I love putting my head in it while watching a movie...it's so soft!
Than, I decided I'll incorporate, along with the faux animal pillows, one of the two beautiful English brocade pillows from several years ago. The brocade gold one, with fringes is from Spain and it has angels in the material..from some years ago and they're two, as well.
Here is the smaller couch with the same three pillows like the bigger couch.
Here  you can see clear the angels in the gold ones, with the fringes, as well as the animal print and the English country scene in the brocade pillow.
I have some faux print material left, enough for two small round pillows for the two chairs at left, which I will have made soon.

A close up of the vintage Scandinavian chair with "real leopard skin".

FABBY: Great New Finds!

Hello my friends!

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day...I did! I explained to you in my last post, that it's raining around here, so we stayed in and ordered Chinese. We had wine by candle light, everything is a wonderful event if we're together.

I'm very happy with my "new great finds!" The week after Christmas there was a big sale at our home store and so I got a few things..than last Saturday they had a special of the day and so some pretty things were on sale and came home with me. There's also another home store where I got some bargains, which I raider it some, lol..I was lucky and I got ALL these great items on sale. Here you have them and I hope you like my choices too!

Here they are!! They look very promising, don't they?... displayed here on my kitchen nook.

Ok, this glass platter and dome, in a rectangular shape is my favorite, I got it on sale only cause it was the only one and it had lots of bubbles inside the glass of the dome..which I didn't care at all..I just loved it and got it for half the price! Even the apples were on sale at the supermarket, lol! Sorry about the stupid glare!
I loved the yellow pitcher bowl, it reminds me of Fiesta Wear. I also loved the green chargers, to mix and match them with the red ones for Christmas and now I'm looking forward to using them on my  St. Patty's Day table scape, along with the green goblets.
The green water goblets are so pretty and also a great find I totally love, as they remind me of the Polish sherbets I have in pink and purple. These don't say where they are made, but who cares!
The madeleine pan was cheap anyway, and the pastry brushes were on sale. I do have a pan where I used to make my madeleines before, but the indentations are more like shells, than like the real McCoy, which is this one!

I was looking all over for a smaller, 6 quarts pressure cooker, cause I have a too big one for just us two, but couldn't find one small enough; or they were too expensive..so again, I was lucky and this Presto 6 qt. one, came home with me at half price! The pepper mills were on sale too and it got me to start a new collection..PEPPER MILLS!! heheheee..
At your left there's four burnt-orange chargers too...love them for fall and for my dishes with that shade. I also got a set of king size bed sheets and pillows at 50%, they've been used, so I didn't display them. I also liked the fact that they are made in the USA, which always makes me happier, than if it were Chinese, hehehe
Don't you just love this platter with the glass dome cover? Great for a loaf of home made bread, or cupcakes, or a strudel..whatever!
The small knife and gadget was on sale and it's for cutting avocado wedges and they were a set...cheap, cheap!
The candy thermometer was also a good find, caz I didn't have one! I'm so happy I got it at a reduced price too. The orange chargers have a pretty cut up, lace design.
This cover was a cute find, because the pedestal was broke so I got the cover, with the "High Tea" written on it...at a bargain! Actually, I really liked the cover mostly.

The day is getting dark, as it's starting to rain around here, you can see it on the window pane, and as I'm finishing this post, it's raining VERY hard!!
I have this Italian brass pedestal with a glass lid, so I placed the cover with the "High Tea" written in it and it looks great! Here you have them...hope you like my new find bargains!

Thank you lovely ladies for your great visits, they always make my day!!

I will be joining some great parties this week, for which I thank the gracious ladies that hosts them too. See you there!

LOVE,
FABBY
