FABBY: Welcome to my Living Room

Hello sweet friends!

Welcome to my living room, have a seat please.

"Aubusson Oriental hand made silk rug."

I will be joining Alyson at the THE POLO HOUSE Link up Challenge: "DECORATING WITH ORIENTAL RUGS"
I did some small tweaking in my living room to freshen it up for Spring...not that it's so Spring like, either is it great, but I'm one that loves the dining room because that's where I get to do what I love the most, which are dishes, therefore, tablescaping...so I tend to neglect my living room, I always think of it in terms of 'guests' only, lol!

Now I changed the small things in the coffee table and the 'four end tables' I have around it.

Here it is, I always hope you like it my friends!

I copied this great marble coffee table from an 'Architectural Digest' Magazine of Interior Design from an article they had on Francoise Sagan's apartment in the Paris's west bank... the famous French writer.
I fell for it hard and Alejandro had it reproduced for me!

The French bronze boy is an antique, turn of the last century, is marked and all, as are the bronze dogs at your right.

I love this pretty reticulated dishes I recently acquired for candy. I keep them with chocolates and Candy, took them out so you can appreciate the pretty lace in them.

Vintage French bombé end table at your right.

The fabric of the upholstery in the two couches is an Italian pure silk brocade.

I placed the fringes on the couches and also the tassels, myself; several years ago.

At left a vintage French girl with sheep, vintage porcelain dogs and a small Oriental jar.

The left vintage French Bombé end table with an antique lamp that was from my Mil's wedding more than 70 years ago.

Here is an antique, turn of the last century, French bronze figure of a jockey boy, German made dogs and a vintage French boy playing the flute.

Another vintage small and pretty end table next to this comfy chair.
I won the tiny table as my Mil had two of this antique things, so me and another Sil won the other; after she died.

I just came back to explain that the small Oriental screen, on top of the small end table that looks like it's painted; no,no, Nanette, as our friend Shelia would say... is made of 'white Chinese lacquer' and embossed 'jade figurines' and it is from the 1960's.

The pretty Cala in a basket painting was made by Alejandro's quite famous uncle who was an artist in Washington DC and Madrid. We have three lovely paintings from Luis Crespo Ordoñez.
Some of you know me by now; so back then I also decided that this small space needed a little side table too, therefore, I asked Alejandro if he can have one ordered in the same 'travertino marble' to match the coffee table and with the same lines as the coffee table and he immediately obliged!

Both tables in the travertino marble were made here in Cuenca-Ecuador, as there are great marbles in this area of the country.
Please disregard the lamp cord, but, don't know how to hide it for the moment.

With this one you've seen all four end tables I have around the living room.

The Art Nouveau bronze mirror, with mother of pearl was Alejandro's grandma... easily over 100 years old!

As you go to your right, passing by my grandma's antique black Viennese cane chair and the Antique Oriental 'canphor trunk,' ... is the door out...but I don't want you to go yet !

I reupholstered the chair at your right about a year and a half ago, with this pretty check fabric in pale green and yellow, to blend it with the couches and Chippendale chairs.

Before it was of a lovely green Italian silk fabric which our beloved 'Pug Ben' ruined it sleeping and scratching it, lol!

I love the Oriental Chippendale chairs! Alejandro gave them to me for my 40th. birthday, along with the dining room set.

The foyer in the background and the dining room in the foreground.

Thank you for coming wonderful friends, your visits always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great Parties!

FABBY: Spring with Flowers and Birdies in the Kitchen

Hello sweet friends!

I decided to bake some chocolate scones today, but somehow they didn't come out that pretty, but they are delish! However, the 'ugly scones' inspired me to create a vignette in my breakfast nook in the kitchen and it'll stay like that for a while...without the ugly, but yummy scones, lol!

The motif for this vignette is mostly to have tea with Mother, Alejandro, Alexandra my DD, who has been visiting us for the last two weeks from the capital and now she's leaving us Sunday and I'm missing her already!

We've been having a wonderful time with her lovely, cheery and fun company.

Ok, here it is, hope you like it!

Here you have it, ready for Mother, hubby, DD Alex and me. Tea and scones in my vintage Oriental bone china dishes.

The pattern in this vintage bone china dishes is very springy, with pretty cheery flowers and butterflies, as you can appreciate it here.

More singing birdies here.

The ugly, but yummy scones!

Baby birdie waiting for his mama!

Look how cute and funny he is..lol!

More birdies perched on a bowl. This bowl was made at our former Ceramic Co.

Besides the large bread bowl I use in the Fall, I also have this small wooden one, where I normally keep the fresh fruit in the kitchen and it has a sparkly gold wash.

Mama bird feeding her baby in the mouth. This bowl was hand made back at our Factory and designed by me.

At left this adorable porcelain egg tray I found recently and loved it!

I hope to see you all at Kathleen's new challenge: "BIRDS, NESTS and EGGS" at Cuisine Kathleen.

Here you have it, my Spring vignette in the kitchen nook.

I will be joining Kathleen's challenge "BIRDS, NESTS and EGGS" at http://cuisinekathleen.blogspot.com

I love the hand decorated, stained glass sky light on top; with hummingbirds and roses. In real life the colors are intense when lighted at night.

One of these days I'm gonna paint the Duncan Phyfe chairs white, or ivory!

Thank you sweet friends for visiting me, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties.

FABBY: Spring High Teascape

Hello sweet friends!

This past Wednesday, March the 26th., would have been the fourth Wednesday of each month when I host the praying of the Rosary at home; with a group of friends for the peace of our countries, families, and special needs anyone asks us to.

You can also request prayers and I will oblige with all my heart!

After we finish praying we retreat to the dining room for tea or coffee with, bread, butter, cheese and marmalade.

I usually love to set the table for them, but this time we all went to a 'cloister' of nuns that never come out and wear a vale, but they let women visit them to pray, always with a special permit from the Monsignor and a friend of ours is close to the Mother Superior; that's why we were so lucky and blessed to go inside the convent and pray the Rosary with the nuns.

We prayed the Rosary in their chapel with the sweet and young nuns and after it they had also set a beautiful table for us, with lace tablecloth and bone china teacups and saucers, where they served us rose tea prepared by them, with cookies and cake.

What a unique experience!!!   Pictures are prohibited...sorry! After I wrote this post for you, one of my friends send me a pic from her cel phone. Look for it as you go down the photos.

Here is what I had planned for a tea scape for the last Wednesday's Rosary.

Here is my Spring 'high tea'
 table.

I used as the centerpiece for this tea scape my "Antique Dutch, Blue-Delft, hand made in Holland" garniture set I love.
Can you believe I never placed flowers in the flower vases in the past?... and I'm loving it!

Hutschenreuther butter dishes.

Blue and white Onion dinner plate serving as a charger for the White Italian Tognana teacups and saucers, I bought for $5,50 a box of six. I purchased two boxes, of course, lol!

The salad white plates I bought separately for the twelve teacups and they matched perfectly! They are 'Corona,' a great brand of Colombian white table stone wear....and quite inexpensive too!

The silver birds for s touch of whimsy.

The lace place mats I have for close to twenty years.

The pretty 'bombonier' with the birdie perched on the top; was made at our former ceramic company, Monte Turi.

My mom gave me this lovely linen embroidered table square a couple of years ago for my b'day.

I love the small Onion pattern box, where I keep the diet sugar for some of us.

Look how beautiful the hand decorated peacock in the Dutch ginger jar is...and there's a little blue lion on the lid, as well.

Silver birds with Green eyes, for the Spring touch.

The friends that follow me know that I DIYed this cobalt blue cake pedestal out of an Italian round platter and a small blue bowl I had...glued them together and uelah!

The 'High Tea' cloche was bought on sale a while back for $4.

Meissen two tier server and blue water goblets.

Onion pattern fruit bowl and vintage French urn.

On the wall far back, my collection of blue and white plates... some are vintage too.

Even the back of the ginger jar is so pretty and it has a little blue lion on top.

Birds and flowers for a little Spring whimsy.

At your left in the back of the dining room is the foyer and living room.

One of my friend's sneaked a pic with her cel phone of a sweet young sister that had set our tea table with lace tablecloth and bone china teacups and saucers. Look at the honey cake and cookies they shared with us!

The convent is 400 years old.

Alejandro just brought me these amazing roses from his brother's professional 'Rose farm-Altaflor'  What a color, ha?!

Thank you so much for visiting me lovely ladies, as you always make my day!

Thanking the gracious and generous hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Home Made Baby Shower Cake

Hello sweet friends!

I was so busy what with my g'girls and baking for my dear friend's Dil who is having a baby boy.

I was in charge of baking the cake with a baby boy's motif for 21 guests, mostly us friends of the mother in law, Rebecca, our dearest friend.

Here it is along with my Sil's table setting. The Baby Shower was held at Alejandro's sister's home.

Hope you like the cake, which somehow it ends up costing more than if I had bought a profesional one, lol!  I also made a small one just in case.

I placed the cake in the foyer table, and at left there's a small version of the cake as an extra; just in case! Here, ready to be taken to my Sil's house.

A close up of the 'Baby Shower' cake for a baby boy. Everything is made in sugar, therefore, eatable... the baby figures, the blue roses, as well as the baby booties.

My Sil's beautiful table setting with my Mil's vintage stunning linen, hand embroidered and hand cut work-lace tablecloth made in Spain.

ONLY some of the goodies here!

Here you can appreciate the gorgeous Spanish vintage hand embroidered and hand cut work-lace tablecloth and napkin.

Thank you for your sweet and kind visits my friends, as you always make my day.

Thank you lovely hostesses for having me at your great parties too!

LOVE,
FABBY
