FABBY: Trout Lunch Day

Hello sweet friends!

I know I mentioned before that my mother comes for lunch and to spend the day with us every Wednesday, therefore, tomorrow is Wednesday... and we will be having trout for lunch, as we have bigger lunches around here, rather than a heavier dinner. Nights are cold so we usually prefer soup and that's all.

There are great trout growing here in Cuenca; all the varieties, but our favorite is the one called "salmon trout" because it's pink like salmon.

Lots of people like to go 'sport fishing' at the lakes in a beautiful national park called "Cajas"where they grow them. I remember when my DD Sofia and her family lived here they often went fishing there and it was fun.

I have a setting for our 'trout lunch' tomorrow and I will accompany it with salad, rice and corn and soup as the antree.

Here is my table for the 'Trout-Lunch.'

Last Saturday I bought the salad bowl, the small bowls and the blue S&P shakers in the form of little fish, at my fav home store for the after C'mas sale they always hold in January.

I loved them as I already had the fish salad plates. They were at a great price, $22.50 for all the pieces!

I arranged fresh flowers with lots of yellow in my Portuguese white pitcher Alejandro bought for me on a visit to my daughter Sofia.

I love the salad plates at your left and the new bowls with a fish in it. I used all white dinner plates paired with pewter chargers.

The big salad bowl at your right.

We will have soup in the bowls first, as an entree, since mother loves soup!

My house doesn't look Christmasy anymore...yupii! (I'm exausted from putting it away, though!)

A blue combo of French, German and English elements, on top of a pretty Ecuadorian hand made tray linen.
The teaset is also ready for tea and dessert for after lunch.

Little fish S&P shakers for $2,50 on sale.
The amber stems are Italian.

Thank you for your wonderful comments sweet friends, as you always make my day!

Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties!

FABBY: "Gringa Tea Party"

Hello sweet friends!

I just got over my "Gringa Tea," we were fifteen with me and I wanted to host it this year, sort of a belated Christmas Tea party.  The first ladies who lived here took me under their wings back in 1975 and thus the name, 'Gringa Tea' as they already had a tradition to get together with all the new American ladies and make them feel welcomed and show us the ropes.

There are no great pics as I was busy and didn't want to bother my guests.

Most ladies live here, some are retiring here and some are married to Ecuadorians and live longer than me, even! Some are ladies who lived in the USA but are native ladies from here, relatives and friends as well.

Ok, just a few photos of the event which was just great, I enjoyed having them so much and it seems they all had an awesome time. The Tea Party started at 4pm and they left at 8pm!

My friend Stephanie from NJ sitting at your left, who's also married to my hubby's friend and has been my best friend for 33 years and we live in the same building...we are so lucky!

The other ladies next to her all live here longer than me and are married to Ecuadorian men. I was so very lucky to meet them so many years ago in 1975, when I had just arrived here!

Some ladies in this table are originally from here, but lived many years in the USA and are back, as well.

Roses by "Altaflor, Cuenca-Ecuador. " A 'shadow shot' as well.

So here you have it, a little glimpse of my 'Gringa Tea' and we always have such an awesome time together!

Thanks for visiting me, wish I could have you here for tea too, as you been 'Gringas' you all qualify, perfectly!

Thanks for the parties gracious hostesses and for having US today.

FABBY: Past Tables for Three Kings Day

Hello sweet friends!

Ok, here we are back to normal starting a new year, which of course, I wish the best for all of you, your families and may God bless all of us and this difficult world we live in.

I'm hosting a "Gringa Tea" this Wednesday, so I haven't taken down my holiday decor, as is like a 'belated C'mas Tea.' Therefore, I'm posting two past tablescapes for today's Three Kings Day celebration in many countries, such as Spain, the Philippines, Cuba and others, because I'm busy cooking and cleaning for the tea party.

When I came to live here in Cuenca-Ecuador in 1975, almost 39 years ago, I met some wonderful American ladies that took me in and showed me the ropes in my new home.

They used to make 'Gringa Teas' and that's why the tradition and we all still host and that's why the 'name,' lol! There are soo many American ladies retiring here now and I'm friends with some of them.  A few of the ladies I know are in the States for the C'mas holidays so some couldn't make it. I will post that later in the week.

Here are my past two Three Kings Day tables from 2012 and 2013.

FABBY: A Gold Table for New Year's Eve 2014

Hello sweet friends!

I decided to create my New Years Eve 2014 tablescape as my last post because we will be busy tomorrow getting ready for the New Year's Eve party at our friends house.

Therefore, here is my gold table, as I adore the antique, Italian silk brocade tablecloth my dear Mil left us and it's so elegant and with so much gold in the embroidery of the brocade. I also used my Italian Tognana china which is one of my fav dishes from my early marriage with the glass, gold Turkish chargers and I decided to use two chargers with the reticulated ones as well, to create more volume to the place setting.

I will also explain with more detail as go along after each photo.

                                                          HAPPY NEW YEAR 2014!

The tablecloth is an antique Italian silk brocade, a treasure that was my dear Mil's.

Here I used two chargers...the glass gold Turkish ones, paired with the reticulated ones.
The china is also Italian-Tognana and I have it for many years and is one of my very fav dishes I own.

The bronze candle holders are also antique from my Mil as well.
The centerpiece is a crystal German pedestal.

I love the silk gold brocade on the tablecloth with some blue roses which pick up the blue small flowers in the china.

Venetian crystal  etched stemware. Water, wine and champagne flute glasses.

Here the Turkish glass chargers, reticulated chargers, Italian Tognana dinner plate and soup bowl.

This lovely silk brocade antique Italian tablecloth has many figures in the pattern, from flowers to butterflies.

I wish you and your dear ones a happy, healthy and blessed year coming and I am looking forward to visiting you to continue this blogging community we are so blessed to belong to...which I love so much, specially because of you, wonderful and sweet friends.

Thank you so much for the comments I received all thru 2013, they always made my day...and I mean it!

Thanking the wonderful, kind and generous hostesses for having me at their great parties.
Looking forward to joining in the new year 2014, as well.
