FABBY: Table for Three

Hello sweet friends!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend, celebrating that our Lord Jesus Christ has Risen and the Spring season, as well. We had a long nice weekend, as Ecuador, been a predominantly Catholic country, the weekend starts at Good Friday. I made a nice lunch for the three of us, mother, Alejandro and myself. The entrance was "chumales", made of corn and steamed in it's own corn leaves. I love "chumales" they're so delicate and yummy. Than there's a hardy soup called "Fanesca", made out of fresh grains, pumpkins, squash, made out of fish broth and many garnishing, such as: "fish escabeche", small empanadas, fried platein and slices of hard boil eggs; all these are served separately, so each guest will add it to their soup bowl. The idea of the fresh grains and squashes, is the harvest of the earth at this time of year. This meal it's usually eaten in all homes around Holy week, any day you wish and many families make it proudly to invite family and friends. Here is a small table I fixed for the three of us with photos of the food, as well.

My table all set for the three of us..mother, Alejandro and myself. Here is the "fanesca, a very hardy, fresh harvest of the earth, grain soup". I learned to like it slowly, through out the years, as the soup is delicious, but I'm not crazy about grains in general..my mom suffered when I was a kid, cause she wanted me to eat them, as grains are good protein for your health. Finally I learned, while living here.

Here is the delicious "chumal", presented in it's own corn leaf. You can also discard the leaf to serve, but I wanted you to see it as it looks steamed cooked.

The garnishing that go on top of the soup: the fried rounds of plantain, the hard boiled egg slices and in the foreground, the little empanadas. I forgot to bring the "fish escabeche" for the pic, lol..

For dessert I made this delicious, Lemon Yogurt Cake from:   http://therealhousewivesofriverton  Be sure to visit them, I recomend this great cake! Thank you ladies, it was fabulous!!

Since liquor drinking is not proper around Holy Week, we just had water..therefore, no goblets.
I used my orange chargers, that I got on an after C'mas sale, along with orange dinner plates, and with the pretty vintage Oriental dishes, with many flowers and butterflies, to make a happy spring setting, as well.

We had herbs tea with my mother and a piece of the cake for dessert. Alejandro and my mother, also loved this Yogurt Lemon Cake.

The recipe makes two loaves, like this one.
The tea set in the foreground, the cake and the dessert plate.

Wishing you all, my sweet and lovely friends.. and your families a very happy and blessed Easter, Sunday of Resurrection.

                                                                         LOVE,

FABBY: Purple & White Table for Holy Friday

Hello sweet friends!

Hope your Holy Week is coming along peacefully and serene, in union with our Lord Jesus Christ. My white and purple table scape is specially inspired, on Holy Friday, since these color combination are morning colors, as Jesus was crucified for us on the Friday before Easter Sunday, which is when Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, for His ultimate glory; to be next to His Father, our Lord. May God bless you and your families this Easter Sunday.

My Mil's vintage iron cross.

The purple goblets are Polish and the wine stems are French from my Mil.

I used for this Holy Friday table scape my white with gold Noritake china.

The chargers are purple, which is hard to notice from the picture.
The mother and child ceramic boxes with bunny lids.

The setting was done in our alabaster, breakfast table with white lace place mats.

The purple little flowers are from our condo's garden.
A crystal rabbit at your left, a small pewter cross and a votive.

I folded the knife and fork in the napkin and wrapped it with a purple ribbon. Here you can appreciate a little of the purple charger, which came out so dark in the photo... with one of my mom's doilies; which purpose is "not to scratch" the charger with the dinner plate with the friction they produce, while we eat.
Oh my, the charger looks wine color in this light, but they are as purple as the ribbon!, lol..

The glass lazy-susan is great, because it's where we keep the S.&P. shakers, vitamins, medicine, coffee mate, Splenda, teas, etc...here, in this same table, for our every day use.
The tea or coffee station for after dinner.

A pretty Lladro Bunny.

The centerpiece flower vase, bunnies and votives are standing on the glass "lazy-Susan."
The vintage Belgium buffet is flanked by two modern lamps..a floor lamp with glass slits that form a ball shade and at the far end of the buffet is my Italian Kartell lamp, which is my fav...in order to make this part of the dining area a little more eclectic, by mixing old with new.

Thank you so much to all of you wonderful friends who leave me such sweet, kind and generous comments, you always make my day!!

Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me each week at their fun and exciting parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Two Little Easter Bunnies

Hello sweet friends!

I can't believe March is almost over and Easter is approaching us so quickly..before we realize it, it'll be summer for you my friends, living in the USA. I'm wondering if there is something going on in the atmosphere, or whatever, but I can't understand how fast life is going...do you? Anyhoo, I did a tea table with a couple of little Easter bunnies that hopped at my table! Hope you like it.

Here are my little bunnies that came to my table for this Easter.
I used my Bavarian tea set for this table scape.

I love these pink napkin rings with butterflies, made back at our former Ceramic Co. Monte Turi...and they're perfect for a Spring tablescape.
Aren't they just too cute?! Look how she hides the carrots from her guy, or bro, lol..

A close up of the tea cups with pedestal.
The butter knives rests are kitty-cats, not bunnies..I guess cats like Easter too!!

I love this small silver tea caddy, with a tea pot shape on both sides.
These china has butterflies and flowers in many colors and others...just right for Spring.

You can see at your right a little bird inside his nest.

My three tier English Royal Albert, Lady Carlyle cake stand; was one of my three gifts hubby gave me for our last 38th. Wedding Anniversary.
The flower vase is vintage Italian in yellow crystal and I arranged it with purple, yellow and pink flowers.

Some apples and peaches for after tea time. I placed this pretty ivory bowl in the pull out of my antique Belgium buffet.

Some of you who follow me remember I re-purposed my living room yellow moire draperies and had made two table cloths from them; after I replaced them with Hunter Douglas shades. The one for my breakfast table is all the way to the floor and finished with a ruffle.

Thank you my lovelies for your sweet and kind visit, you always make my day!

Very grateful to the wonderful hostesses, as I will be joining some exciting and fun parties, too.

LOVE,
FABBY
