A Summer Table Setting

Hello sweet friends !

Last time I was thinking of giving up my blogging and I was depressed in every sense too. My mother had fallen and was in a lot of pain and had been such work for me and I hadn't hardly time for anything besides the fact I felt I've lost my touch blogging and that I haven't much traffic, or comments anymore...so !

Anyway, taking out my fish-china for four to use it for the Summer season, I became inspired and right away I thought of my blog, as I have for so many years and got the urge to create a 'Sea themed' table for this Summer season... and just the thought gave me a little thrill to think of the plates, dishes and whatever else accessories for a table I love.

I didn't struggle with the thought on 'quitting' blogging because I don't like it, but because maybe it is time, as it isn't as it used to be when I started nine years ago, but, it relaxes me and china, dishes, all table accessories, and collecting them, etc... are my passion and it's my hobby and it sure makes me giddy to start and finish a table.

I no less discussed it with Mr. Living and he said something I find it to be so true and it's that "it is not important how many people comment or the traffic you get, as long as I have the loving kind of blogging friends that visit me and those are the ones that count.
He also said: "Just do it for your own 'personal enjoyment and fun...' who cares !"

I thought he gave me a ray of sunshine in my heart and I am going to ponder a while on Alejandro's comment about the blogging situation I'm battling with lately.

However, I have very little time because of caring for my elderly mother, so I will continue blogging very sporadically, but will be around 'blogland' to visit and see your posts.

Meanwhile, I created a 'Summer tablescape' (even though I live in the Andean mountains side) inspired by the sea and my fish china and the Food I like to make on this adorable china... and it's a 'Fish Escabeche,' salad and rice as main course and 'Shrimp Ceviche' for an entree.

                                      HAPPY SUMMER !

With that said.

I used my "Multiple Choice" Fish plates, bowls and accessories it came with, (not shown).

The turquoise 'melamine' dinner plates I bought alone in Miami last year and soup bowl where The 'Fish Stew' will be served.

The ceramic 'Indian' bowl was a gift from my dear SIL on my last birthday.
I love all the blue it has, it reminds me of the ocean, so I filled it with some of my collection of 'real  sea-shells.'

The "Meissen" teapot is one of my fav pieces I have at home, (actually all my three Meissen pieces I own are my special items) from my dish stash and it's very unique.
I bought it a few years ago at my fav European antique shop.

I placed the teapot on my 'Sea Table' inspiration setting because of the 'vessels' it has on one side of it.

The fish motif 'Multiple Choice' china for four place settings, come with bowls and large-salad plates, which I use even for a main course and a big salad bowl. In this case I am using for our Summer everyday my melamine light-blue plates.

Thank you dear friends for your kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

  1. As always Fabby, I enjoy your sweet tablescapes. Sweet lady, I understand all too well the JOY and the HARDSHIPS of caregiving. I have always said that my prayer goes out to the caregiver more so than the one being cared for. After all, the one being cared for is BEING CARED for. But, the caregiver needs strength, discernment and wisdom. One thing is for sure dear Fabby. When you lay your head down at night you can say, "All is well with my soul". Lifting you up to our Lord today for your needs. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  5. Dearest Fabby,
    Wise words from Alejandro!
Indeed. it has never been important how many visitors one gets but only one good comment counts for thousands of others that can't even phrase something of value to add to such classy table settings!
Sure, enjoy what you are doing and as often as YOU want it, or are able to.
    Sending you hugs,
    Mariette

  6. I like your fish dishes. They are so unique. The teapot suits the theme with the ships. Also I like the crocheted place mats.
I'm happy you decided to blog from time to time. I have cut down on blogging also. I'm too busy with gardening and visitors in the Summer.
Caregiving can be hard at times. I hope your Mom feels well soon.

  11. I completely understand where you are coming from. Last year when I was my mom's caregiver and then when she passes away and I had that to deal with along with being the executor of her estate I really pulled back from blogging. My heart wasn't in it. Now, as time has passed and I realize that I missed it and missed my blogging friends I have slowly started to get back in it. I love your posts, and hope you are able to continue on. You would be missed, but it is also important to do what is right for you. xo Laura

P.S. I love your fish dishes.

LOVE all the hues of blue in your Summer Table Setting!
I, too, have 'fish dishes' that I gifted "Mr. Ed" years ago on Christmas!

  14. Hi Fabby!! How nice to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear that your little mother fell and I hope she's feeling better. Oh, I know exactly how you feel about blogging. I almost gave it up but like you, I do love it and just can't. It certainly isn't like it used to be. Your husband gave you some good advice. Glad you're sticking around. I'm trying to post at least once a week and I always love seeing your pretty tablescapes!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  15. Such a pretty tablescape and I love the lights in the night sky as a backdrop. I know blogging can seem a little lonely sometimes. We put our thoughts and ideas out into the void and hope it's not really a void. The good news is... it isn't! And you're right that it only takes a few blogger friends to make it worth it. Thanks for sharing at the Weekend Blog Hop at My Flagstaff Home. --Jennifer

  16. Fabby, I am glad you are still blogging and I think everyone visiting feels the same way. It's hard. I am going back to work for the first time in 2 1/2 years and worry about it, how will I keep the blog up?, etc. But, I'm just going to adjust and hit and miss, if that's what it takes. :)

Blog when you can and I am happy to feature your cute fish plates on next week's Share Your Style #217. Thank you!

    p.s. Your hubby's right. ;)

    Hugs,
    Barb :)

pps. Love the evening view out your city window!!!

  17. Fabby, I know the feelings you are expressing about blogging. I am so glad your hubby gave you his good advice. I think we have to enjoy the sheer love of sharing tables and spreading God’s love in order to continue. Your table is so beautiful and how I love the Meissen tea pot. Have a joy-filled week dear friend!

  18. Fabby, it's a wonderful talent you have of creating a table that can take me away to another place (in this case the seashore -- I'm in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains). That's the fun of tablescaping, creating beauty and respite for family and friends. The fish plates are cute, the fish bowl has such an interesting shape, the place mats are the color of sand and the menu sounds delicious!

I haven't been blogging as long as you, but I can relate to the frustrations you're having. And sometimes life gets in the way of enjoying a hobby. But I love your style and your dishes and look forward to seeing your posts. Happy Sunday!

  20. Hi Fabby,
It was good to see one of your post. Very nice summer table. Your hubby is right....do it for yourself and those that do come by, cause there are more than you think sometimes. I finally adopted that attitude cause my hubby retired last year and I don't have the time
I once did either, so I usually only post twice a week most of the time, and if someone
leaves a comment it is a bonus and if they don't thats fine too, cause I don't have a lot
of time to answer anyway. lol
Blogging might be a nice outlet for you right now with having so many other responsibilities and hey it's your blog you just post when you can or when you want to.
Sorry about your Mom, we have already been down those roads with our Mom's and they are
both home with the Lord now. So I sorta know how it is hon.
Blessings to you sweetie, Praying for you.
    Nellie

  22. Fabby,
The blogging world is quiet interesting, there are many different reasons why bloggers do it. You have to do what works for you. I used to post a lot more but must admit that this entire year, I have been hosting parties but not many posts from me. It is not that I don't have posts to share, I just don't have time to get them ready for a post. But that's OK. I do what works for me and you should too. Your talescapes are incredible and we will all enjoy seeing them when you do have time to share. Taking care of your Mom is important even though it can be difficult
    Take care my friend.
    Hugs,
    Bev

  24. Fabby,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words!! I hope that as you are caring for your Mother, you do not neglect taking care of yourself. So often the caretaker gets ill while caring for a loved one. I hope you are having a good week, my friend!!

  27. Cannot think of tablesetting blog-land without dear Fabby. You are a inspiration to many and to me too. With all the chaos around this passion of us gives us lot of inner peace. I tell this out of my experience. My prayers are for your mom to get well soon. Lots of love and hugs to you:)

  28. Many prayers for both you and your mother. I am always so happy when I stop here. LIfe can be sad or happy and sometime busy yet I find the dearest hearts are right here, blogging, making others smile with their shares.
I started blogging nearly 10 years ago but than my great cousin was blogging about our childhood and he challenged me. SO I did an entire 31 days of blogging about our childhood neighborhood. My cousin Kay went to sLOVEnia to research our grandparents and she has gone twice more since than. I started researching on line about our ancestors too. I can not travel as she can but I delight hearing stories and seeing photos. The same here. You re an encourager and a sweetheart when h=it comes to table setting. I know how hard it is when life throws you those curves but I hope I will see you here as you can. I like to think of my blog as a journal for my kids and grandkids and greats to follow. MUch love and the biggest Colorado hug I can send via blog world. XO Praying for you now and your mom as well. :-)
