FABBY: Christmas Bread and Tea

Hello sweet friends!

I made a delicious "Christmas Bread" - Adapted from BH & G. Three C Bread... and I found it at lovely Lynn at her great blog: "Happier Than a Pig in Mud." The recipe is also at the end of this post, just in case.

I had five ladies and me for tea the other day, so with the great bread, among other things we had some yummy eggnog made right here in Cuenca-Ecuador...no need to even make it from scratch, as I used to do in the past.

Anyhow, here goes...

Here is the table for six set up on my mother's beautiful satin and embroidered white tablecloth with splashes of red and gold. She gave me for a big birthday, lol!

Look how pretty the embroidery is in the transparent part of the cloth...it's like an organza.

The 'Zhumir' delicious eggnog bottle.

A close up of the embroidery.

Here you can appreciate the lovely embroidery in the satin cloth.

The Christmas Bread is a wonderful recipe. I have it at the end of this post for the ones that want it...it does not disappoint, believe me!

Tea and Christmas Bread.

I love this C'mas china from 'Lynn's Fine China' that Alejandro gave me for a birthday almost twenty years ago. I have it for 16 place settings, plus serving pieces.

I had the teapots, (they are two) copied the pattern of the china and the decorator added a little more blue in the flower, which I love and was also from our own Factory, as the set didn't come with teapots for some reason.

With sixteen place settings I have two of everything...the sugar bowls and creamers, two salad bowls and two platters for meats.

The Mr. Santa figurine is vintage

The footed bowl and teapot were made and hand decorated at our former Ceramic. Co.

The small tea napkins are also embroidered with grapes and trimmed in gold, perfect for  for the C'mas holidays.

Red and green glasses for the eggnog.

Thank you so much for your sweet and kind comments, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties each week.

LOVE,
FABBY

"CHRISTMAS BREAD"

1/2 Cups all purpose flour
1 Cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
3 eggs
1/2 Cup vegetable oil - (I use at least half applesauce)

1)  Mix dry ingredients.
2)  Mix wet and add to dry
3)  Fold in the carrots, coconut, cherries and the walnuts and raisins, if you so want to add to the recipe.
4)  Pour batter into greased and floured large loaf pan or two small ones, or 3-4 mini loaf ones.
5)  Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes for big pan, 35 minutes for small ones, or until toothpick comes out clean.

FABBY: "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas"

Hello sweet friends:

"I'm dreaming of a White Christmas...just like the ones I used to know."

It is for real, I always dream of a White Christmas, even after so many happy years living here in Cuenca-Ecuador you'd think I'm already used to not having snow this time of year, but no, I still long for it, specially now.

How I wish it was snowing out my window come Christmas, and I would have wonderful memories of my sweet house and childhood back in my home town in Astoria, Queens-NY.

Since it is not possible, my table for this C'mas Eve is going to be all White, I've decided and here is the 'sample'...although the table for the younger ones will be for sure with the traditional colors of this beautiful holiday, the birth of our "Lord Jesus Christ," which in the "Christian World" we are celebrating and what the meaning of Christmas is all about.

Here is my White table, I hope you like it.

I had a cute and old woven basket I painted in White chalk paint, along with some pine cones from the gardens of our building, so to resemble snow.

I used my "White Scapes-Noritake" dishes.

I had fun painting the basket and arranging it with fresh greens and pinecones. I love the smell all over the house.

I was inspired by these crackled white chargers I found at a pretty home goods store, as they resemble snow flakes, I think.
The flatware is Reed and Barton bought in Bloomingdale's-Orlando last June.

The greens in the basket are pine and cypress and they smell so like Christmas time in NYC and of the fresh tree dad, my brother Joe and me would go buy it to decorate it with mother later on.
I must add that living by the Andean mountains you could find all these lovely fresh greens with traditional C'mas scent!

The hand etched short stem crystal ware are from Venice-Italy

A little 'green bling' in the chandy to make it more festive.

I always value and appreciate your wonderful comments my friends, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious ladies for the great parties they host each week.
