Hello sweet friends!
So I walk up the other morning with an arch to eat home made 'Rhubarb and Strawberry pie' and I wanted to make it myself, as I did many times when my girls were young and hubby loved it !
Yesterday I went and bought some rhubarb and strawberries at the fruit market near me and proceeded to work today, Tuesday, as mother also comes every Wednesday for lunch and spends the day with us and I'm sure she would love a piece for dessert.
Ok, I also have the recipe for you... I found this one on Pinterest. I loved it, but I guess maybe I like my crust a little bit better... but hey, you try it!
The recipe is at the end of this post.
I wanted to try another recipe for a change, plus this one has a crumble on top that makes it quite crispy and yummier.
The recipe is: "Deep-Dish Strawberry & Rhubarb Pie with Crumb Topping."
I'm not sorry I did it, it's fabulous!
Look how pretty it came out too! You can see how the delicious and crisp 'crumb topping' looks. |
This pie is called: "Deep Dish, Strawberry and Rhubarb Pie with Crumb Topping." |
I had hoped the piece of pie would have come out more in a triangle, but I guess it was a little warm still, I'm sure the slice will be prettier tomorrow. |
I did this little tea table with my ever lovaly Onion china; to show off my pie and for us to have a taste, which we did, lol.. The centerpiece shells are displayed on a Delft blue and white planter. |
So... I was also in the mood to change my plate rack with some 'Summer' dishes. |
On top the Limoges aqua dinner plates from my mom's china and fish soup plates. |
The fish plates are a set for four settings, and use them for like a Fish Stew, as there are big soup bowls on the top shelf. I usually make it in cold weather. |
I do get a kick of changing and re-arranging seasonal this cute plate shelf, hubby had made for me last year. Last display was a patriotic 4th. of July 2017 décor, some of you saw it. Thank you dear friends for your sweet comments, you always make my day! Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties. ReplyDeleteDearest Fabby,
ReplyDeleteWow, that looked like being from a magazine!
You can do anything you think of and it turns out good.
Had to laugh with your not so perfect triangle shaped first piece...
Ought to be more patient but i can see you there, longing to make those photos!
Hope your day with dear Mom was a happy one and that she loved the strawberry rhubarb pie.
I love rhubarb but it is not available in our area. I've gotten it a few times in Atlanta.
Growing it in our hot climate is impossible, we gave up on it.
Hugs and happy weekend,
Mariette
That is one pie I have never tried, but it looks delicious!

Fabby, your pie looks delicious. And I love your plate rack and Blue Onion china. Who is the manufacturer of your Blue Onion? It is different from mine.
ReplyDeleteFabby, the pie looks beyond delish! I adore rhubarb! And your china? To die for. I tried in vain to source a similar pattern here in Australia, but no joy. Yours is gorgeous. Mimi xxx
