Where I Store my Dishes-Part I

Hello sweet friends!

I've been asked by so many blog friends and people in general as to "where do I store my dishes" as really, you cannot see it at all, if you walked into my house, there aren't any on sight, I love to keep them hidden in the furniture pieces.

The thing I can say on my behalf is that I'm very orderly and organized, otherwise I probably wouldn't be able to find, or remember where I keep some old dishes to play and use them.

I do have a couple of sellers with some boxes of Holiday dishes, or some made back at Monte Turi, our own ceramic factory. It's not pretty, just cartons with dishes, not worth looking at.

I hope you enjoy it as I did photographing this post. Here is the storage on the dining room and breakfast areas: buffets, side boards, credenza, kitchen cabinets, console and curio... I used up every piece of furniture I own for storage.

Storage, Part I.

We'll begin by checking into the Italian china cabinet and buffet that is large although not deep, as the antique ones, but it has plenty of storage.
Here you can see it.

I even used the top part of this piece for some cake plates.

The left bottom side contains my reticulated china for twelve place settings.

The center part and the largest.
The china in the lower section is for 16 place settings.

The right side with drawers containing mostly silverware, some napkins and napkin rings.

Ceramic napkin rings from our factory in different colors.

Another drawer with various seasonal napkin rings.

Now, I love antique buffet pieces as they are so deep as the contemporary aren't, therefore, the more the merrier !
The right side with the Onion-German china.

In the upper level. Tea china for twelve place settings and others.

On both sides of the lower level lots of pieces from our own designe and made china.

This antique Belgium sideboard is again deep and large, so it stores lots of dishes.
The drawers store some more silverware and napkins.
2nd. drawer

3rd. drawer

In the lower left side my red and blue transferware dishes.

This is such a great storage piece, it's containing my Noritake for twelve settings and four others for eight and some water goblets and miscellaneous pieces.

This is an antique Egyptian console where I have some more glassware stored.

This is a wall fixture made specially for glasses, which I use for my best crystal stemware.
I also store my Mil's antique china in the lower part of it because it's for 18 place settings and more pieces.
There's a large drawer too, with the tablecloths for the round breakfast table.

Here you have it, Part I of my dish and china storage.
Hope you come by for Part II, I guarantee you, it'll be fun.

Thank you so much for your sweet and kind comments, you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

  1. Hola mi querida Fabby,

Wow, I am impressed with your incredible collection of china. Perfectly stored and organized as you said. You are lucky to have that many cabinets that offer hidden storage. Most of my insane china collection is store in our basement. I try to keep it organized also since I like to have quick access to my pieces but it is not as pretty as all your storage cabinets.

Now I don't feel so bad about being a dishaholic. You are right keeping me company amiga. Thank you for visiting.

    Wishing you great week.

    Janet

  8. Dearest Fabby,
You are so right about the old cabinets being roomier for storing lots of china and crystal.
There is a lot of weight on those shelves and God forbid that something would ever give...
You have the most extensive and fabulous collection for setting many lovely tables!
Looking forward to your next reveal.
    Hugs and blessings,
    Mariette

  10. I love seeing this, Fabby. Thanks for sharing. Someday, maybe I can share mine too but right now, there are too many boxes still unopened in the garage and I cannot get to many dishes yet. You remind me of me, lol....Christine

  17. It gets tricky storing all of those beautiful things, doesn't it? You have much more than I do but you've figured it out. :)

Happy Thoughts of Home. Have a great weekend.

  18. I LOVE "Where I store my dishes" posts. First of all because it makes me feel as if I am not alone with my dish addiction. Second, it gives me ideas. But it does make me feel like a total slob because I store mine in any available empty space and sometimes that means under hutches and behind towels in the linen closets.

  19. You have so many beautiful dishes and so beautifully organized. I like keeping things behind closed door as they don't collect dust but for me it is a case of 'out of sight - out of mind'.
