Hello sweet friends!
I just got back from my very long weekend tonight from a 45 minute flight from Sofia's house, because we had to go to another fabulous First Communion, which was the granddaughter of a very good friend of mine.
I did promise I will show you what I did and worked myself away for the dinner party we hosted a week and a half ago for our twelve best friends, plus the two of us.
I did all the flowers, which I love that part. I did the cleaning and ironing of the linens, which I don't care for that part, lol..
I do like the cooking and I get very organized each day with a schedule and the menu was: A great turkey recipe that was my Mil's, who was a fabulous cook and loved to entertain..the best! I also did a London Broil which came wonderful as it's a recipe from my good friend Stephie from NJ. A really yummy Wild rice recipe, very tasty with lots of spices and butter and finally a Caesar's Salad with home made croutons and a delish dressing which I copied from our dear friend Ivonne, from Stone Gable. The entree was a 'Yucca tamale,' (cassava tuber) which is very delicate in taste. The dessert was Bread Pudding with Caramel sauce and toasted slivered almonds on top. Last but not least, all the spirits and liquor Alejandro loves to serve, besides wine for dinner...that part I don't take care, at all! Our guests had a great time and loved dinner!
Here goes tons of pics, specially of the flowers and of course, 'I just can't stop this transfer ware' situation...as they have become my fav
You've seen this table before, but now all set up for a 'real dinner party!' The stems are etched by hand and are Venetian Crystal. |
The breakfast table is set up for five guests with my Onion pattern china, to continue with the blue and white settings. |
In the background buffet some pink gorgeous roses from my Bil's 'Professional Rose Farm, Altaflor.' |
The flower arrangement here is done in a small white Portuguese vase. The stems are Italian Bormiolli Rocco in this table. |
I arranged hydrangeas in the living room. |
I love this beautiful hand decorated Delft-Dutch bowl. |
A close up of the hydrangeas, which is what I love to do the most for a dinner party! The flower arranging, I mean. |
Beautiful roses from my Bil's prefessional rose-farm and next to it chocolate Bom-boms in a pretty Meissen bowl. |
The antique French Opaline flower vase with lovely pale pink roses. |
Another color of pink gorgeous roses from my Bil's professional rose-farm, Altaflor. |
This cute vintage duck flower vase that belonged to my Mil is all done up for the guest 'half-bathroom.' |
I love orange with cobalt blue. |
I love the tiny roses. |
The Antique Belgium buffet was arranged with purple and pink too. I adore purple with silver, they're both cold and elegant! |
A close up of the flowers. |
The Meissen two tier compote with some fresh fruit. Dutch and English transferware plates on the wall, along with some plates made back at our Ceramic Co. on the side wall...all in blue and white. |
The two dinner tables. The round breakfast table was set for five guests and the formal big table for nine. Alejandro sat in the big table and me in the round, so both of us could be with our guests. Thank you so much dear friends for your sweet and kind comments, as you always make my day! Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties too. Beautiful, Fabby. A dinner party for 14 is no small occasion. Your tables look lovely. So many beautiful flowers about your home. I know your guests felt very special.
Party Time! I love your beautiful table settings. The flowers are fabulous. Amazing and delightful. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteBetty @ My Cozy Corner
Even Nature came out to play honoring your pictures with the Blue Hour outside :).
ReplyDeleteToo lovely!
I love the thoughtful gesture of hiring help so you can enjoy the gathering with your friends - well done, as usual, dear Friend!
The flower were the greatest touch of all and I'm amazed of how many there are and you managed to give different arrangements for every nook... that's indeed your playground and your its best player.
Love,
Teresa
This is really a gorgeous set-up...
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, beautiful party, Fabby. I bet your guests felt pampered. I love your table settings. Transferware is one of my very favorites, too. You hubby did good!!! Great birthday gift(s). I love it. Your flowers are beautiful and your menu sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteI like a sit-down dinner instead of a buffet when I entertain! xo Diana
What wonderful birthday gifts you received from your husband!
ReplyDeleteI, too, like the combination of blue & orange.
I could NEVER in my wildest dreams arrange flowers so beautifully as you do, Fabby! Your guests were very fortunate to be entertained in such a gracious setting by such thoughtful hosts...
(The menu sounds SCRUMPTIOUS!)
Having dinner at your place must be magnificent. Your gorgeous flower arrangements set such a delightful atmosphere. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOh Fabby, this is such a beautiful dinner party and your flowers are all stunning. I love how you arranged them all. The menu sounds wonderful. I am sure everyone had a fabulous time. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOh Fabby, This is so lovely. I love every detail. Hubby was so sweet to gift this awesome transfer ware and exquisite vase.
ReplyDeleteI know you had a wonderful time but I know it was a lot of work. It is always so great to dine with good friends.
Love to you, Ginger
A beautiful table, and I love your menu. Your friends are lucky! xo
ReplyDeleteYour table settings are just beautiful and the dinner menu sounds delicious. We are doing a dinner party for 8 in a couple weeks so I've been inspired by your post. Would you ever consider sharing some of the recipes you used? Would love to know how you made the turkey and London Broil. First visit to your blog and really am enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteCheryl
What a fabulous dinner party you must have had, every thing is beautiful. Your home is lovely and so grand looking!
ReplyDeleteI love blue and orange together too!
Hugs, Cindy
Beautifully done, Fabby!!
ReplyDeleteI betcha your guests were in awe, Fabby. You set 2 gorgeous tables. Your transferware sets are fabulous, so pretty together. The flowers are beautiful, it must have smelled so fragrant in your house that evening....Christine
ReplyDeleteYou certainly know how to make a place look fabulous FABBY! Everything looks so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDearest Fabby,
ReplyDeleteWell, you pulled it off fabulous and Alejandro knew what to gift his bride with for her birthday! Those two colors of orange and blue are a royal combination and you have that knack for creating perfect colors and design.
You made me very happy by mentioning the top plate is for the Entrée. That's indeed the French way of serving dinner; for all continents outside of the USA that is. Here they think that the Entrée is the main course. They write it like Entree... so maybe that's where they lost its true meaning?!
You present it in a very classy style and each of your guests must feel pampered. Smart that you had this girl helping you serve. That's exactly what I do when I serve a three course dinner for Pieter's Monday Night Club members. One professional as a right hand works wonders and we always divide ourselves among the two tables like you and Alejandro did. Besides, our smaller table is easier for getting up for helping serve and clearing plates off the tables.
Hugs to you!
Mariette
Wow, lots of work, but a labor of love! The tablescapes are lovely and the flowers beautiful! Love the new blue vase!
ReplyDeleteKatherine
Well, dear Fabby, you did it again--and for a large group! It's all absolutely beautiful! What wonderful gifts Alejandro has given you--that makes them all the more meaningful/enjoyable, doesn't it? And those roses! I noticed them even before you mentioned them! Oh, how I would love to visit with you in your beautiful surroundings! Precioso todo, Fabby. Carinos, ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteNow, this is a DINNER PARTY!!! Your menu sounded sumptuous Fabby and of course the dinner table, gorgeous! Alejandro is so sweet to gift you with these fabulous items to 'play' with and enjoy, that's real love. ;-) I know all your guests felt every bit special with all the little details you put in around your home. And a hired help for the night truly will do wonders in keeping everyone relaxed and you at ease. Wonderful Fabby!
ReplyDeleteHi lovely lady.
ReplyDeleteYour Tablescapes are Gorgeous as always. You did a Beautiful job putting this all together for your guest. I also love all your dinner plates, hoping you have a wonderful week with your family.
xxoo
Diane
Fabby, you always have the most gorgeous tables, set with such beautiful pieces! I can see your passion for entertaining and making your guests feel special! I am sure that your family and friends love your hospitality!
ReplyDeleteYou need your own TV show! "Fabby's Fancy Dinners and Decor" !! :) That is what visiting your blog is like sometimes ! :)
ReplyDeleteNo one could give a dinner party that was any prettier than YOURS!!! It is all gorgeous and like all of your post - filled with eye candy! I always have to read through once, comment and then return for a slower view where I can linger over each picture!!

ReplyDeleteFABBY! Hello there and good evening! YOU ARE BRAVE! Dinner for 14? I've made dinner for about 10 and that was fun, but a lot of work in a galley kitchen (back in Boston) - my kitchen now is bigger! And your décor is stunning. What a great time of year to try out different table designs. Tonight, I ate by candlelight on my farmhouse table and it was lovely. Thank you for your kind words and visit! Happy holidays, Anita
ReplyDeleteIt is all so BEAUTIFUL! I have to look at it again and again!
