FABBY: Nephew's Fall Luncheon

Hello sweet friends!

Our nephew David came for Summer vacation from the "Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida;" where he studies 'Business Administration' and he's been there for the last two years, he's got two more to go. He is a terrific tennis player, for which he got a 60% scholarship and is a very smart intelligent and handsome young man...we are very proud of him...can you tell?

I did a luncheon for him and my table is looking like Fall weather, as right now we're in the late 50's and early 60's; although this china has lots of birds and bright colors, the transition to Fall is subtle. I chose a china made at our past company, because David likes it; with lots of oranges, blues, pinks and yellow flowers and finally with burnt orange chargers, etc. I usually set my Thanksgiving large table with this set. Anyway, this would be my first Summer-Fall table for 2013; after I just recently made a totally Summer, 'beachy tablescape,' before this one,hehehe..

This set of dishes contains 350 pieces and was designed by me back at our 'past ceramic company.' The inspiration came from the indigenous babies wrapping blankets, which are hand embroidered with flowers and birds.  Here is the link if you'd like to see ALL the pieces together.  http://fabbysliving.blogspot.com/2013/01/fabby-350-pieces-of-my-pottery.html

These dishes are mine, as Alejandro has his own set. I love the juice pitcher, as young David doesn't drink because he is a tennis player as well.

The dishes are entirely hand decorated in a manner to resemble 'embroidery' as you can see in the flowers. This bowl with handles is for the rice.

The flatware is Reed and Barton, and I bought it in Florida on our vacation last June on sale in Bloomingdale's, Orlando. Here are some of the many serving pieces it has. We also had steak and so I used the steak knives that came with the set of twelve.

The burnt-orange chargers with a Fall reticulated design around it, I bought them on sale after last C'mas for $1.50 each. The doilies were made by mother... so not to scratch the surface of the charger with the friction the dinner plates make, while we eat...it's actually a custom from around here to place a doily between the charger and dinner plate.

The cute birds' design and flowers make this china very versatile for any season too...so for the ones that don' want to let go of Summer!

The teacup and saucer for offee or tea with dessert after lunch.

I designed the handle of the teacup with a blue flower in the branch with leaves. The small bowl at your right is for the hot sauce and notice it has a little red chili-pepper on it.

Deep salad plates, almost like bowls.. in the back.

Our vintage Dutch chairs and French velvet orange upholstery go perfect for the Fall season and with this setting, as it even has brownish-green leaves in the material.
Alejandro posing very proud with his nephew David, who's been here on vacation from 'Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.'  David is studying Business Ad. there and he's got two more years to go. He won a 60% scholarship because he's also a very achieved and skilled tennis player.

The linen tablecloth has pale orange stripes.

Thank you lovely friends for your visits and generous comments, as you always make my day!

Thank you to the wonderful and gracious hostesses for their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

  7. Dearest Fabby,
You can be proud of this young nephew and for sure he enjoyed his special lunch with you both! Funny that we have been to Flagler College in St. Augustine so many times, as a tourist. It is such wonderful architecture, like being back in the Old Spain.
And being seated on the antique Dutch chairs... You make the world go round!
Love your beautiful chargers and how clever for cushioning them with a doily in-between. One can tell that you do treasure your good pieces!
    Hugs,

  43. Aww Fabby I hope you and your family have had a fabulous summer - where has the time gone?

Your table looks beautiful. My dad and his wife live in an area of the UK called the potteries. It is in Staffordshire and is of course well known for the pottery industry. I must send you some photos but I have recently bought six beautiful ceramic plates from the late 1800's. They are decorated with scenes of little fairies and pixies playing with animals. I keep meaning to contact the pottery museum to find out a little more about them.

I hope you had a lovely day and wow David looks like Enrique Iglesias - does he have an older brother please that you could send to England lol! :-) xxx
