FABBY: Recycled Tablecloths

After changing our window treatment from  yellow moire to Hunter Douglas shades in our formal living room and family room; I thought:  "what a shame all this beautiful Italian moire has to go to waste"!  Than one day I walk up with the idea that I should take it to my seamstress and have the draperies be transformed into beautiful tablecloths!  I washed the curtains and took them to the seamstress, she agreed and made two great, all lined yellow tabletoppers for our round alabaster breakfast table and for the large table in our formal living room.  I did my Thanksgiving tablescape using the yellow topper and a tea table on the round one.
The seamstress charged me $7 for the round one and $10 for the large one, so you can't beat that, for $17 two terrific tablecloths!
Here goes the metamorphosis from draperies to tablecloths.
BEFORE:  There are two large windows like this one and two half the size of these, so I did have  a lot of material that was perfect for the tablecloths transformation, or metamorphosis.
AFTER:  The formal dining large table with the new recycled tablecloth.
AFTER:  The round alabaster breakfast table with a pretty ruffle on the yellow moire tabletopper.
I hope you liked my NEW recycled, from curtains to tablecloths, I am thrilled! They look great in real life and the moire is so pretty!   I did recycled the dining room curtains as well and I got one for the large table, as that one was a smaller curtain, so  there was not enough, but for one table.  I will show it after Christmas  maybe for  a New Year's tablescape as it is somewhat silvery.
Thank you my darlings for your sweet visits, you are all so very appreciated.   Wishing you all a very happy week.   Lots of hugs.
FABBY

Dear Fabby,

What a transformation indeed from your curtains to your two lovely tablecloths!

Your table vignette all set for dinner and the Autumn decor are just beautiful as always..,

I am very late this week, yet I must say that your post from last week's tea took my breath away! The glass pedestal table and the colors, the back ground as well as your mouth-wateringly pretty looking Walnut cake were perfection! The recipe looks so good; I must try this!

Thanks ever so much for joining us for Tuesday's Teas; we always love having you partake!

Hugs, Wanda Lee

The ruffle on the round tablecloth is particularly wonderful! You'd better keep that seamstress's identity a secret. Her prices are amazing! If she gets too famous, she'll raise them :)

Great idea...You now have two beautiful tablecloths that only cost you the minimal amount to have them sewn!
Have a great week, Fabby...

What a great idea, Fabby and they are both very beautiful and elegant!
I love the one with the ruffle, especially. And it was very good for the price. There is no point in wasting such lovely fabric.
Have a beautiful day.

That's a great idea! They both look beautiful and I can't believe they were so reasonably priced to have them made.

Hi Fabby,
your are soooo smart. And Maria Andrade made me laughing so much: Your are just Fabbylous, yeah, that's it! Clever idea to use the curtains. That is so much good fabric, it would be a shame to through it away. And I remember the part of Gone with the wind, where Scarlet makes a beautiful robe from the curtains. How about that with the rest of the fabric?
Hugs and best greetings, Johanna

Fabby, that is such a genius idea and so beautiful. I love the cloths, they look amazing. Beautiful dining room and such a lovely tablescape. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

Great idea. Nice fabric is SO expensive and most of the tablecloths you can buy are not the best quality. I have taken several fabric remnants and hemmed them all around for table toppers or tablecloths. Your seamstress is a bargain too!

Hi Fabby!
What a smart idea! Especially if they are washable! Very custom and a one of a kind!

I love the ruffled one. The color of the fabric is so great. I have done the same thing with the old swags that used to be so popular. I just couldn't throw the fabric away and I have used them on several tablescapes. The one on my kitchen table right now is a cream damask that used to hang as a swag in my master bedroom! You were brilliant!

Great idea to repurpose. There's way too much waste in this world. Your table looks lovely. Not sure what moire is but it looks shiny like taffeta.
