FABBY: Welcome to my Living Room

Hello sweet friends!

Welcome to my living room, have a seat please.

"Aubusson Oriental hand made silk rug."

I will be joining Alyson at the THE POLO HOUSE Link up Challenge: "DECORATING WITH ORIENTAL RUGS"
I did some small tweaking in my living room to freshen it up for Spring...not that it's so Spring like, either is it great, but I'm one that loves the dining room because that's where I get to do what I love the most, which are dishes, therefore, tablescaping...so I tend to neglect my living room, I always think of it in terms of 'guests' only, lol!

Now I changed the small things in the coffee table and the 'four end tables' I have around it.

Here it is, I always hope you like it my friends!

I copied this great marble coffee table from an 'Architectural Digest' Magazine of Interior Design from an article they had on Francoise Sagan's apartment in the Paris's west bank... the famous French writer.
I fell for it hard and Alejandro had it reproduced for me!

The French bronze boy is an antique, turn of the last century, is marked and all, as are the bronze dogs at your right.

I love this pretty reticulated dishes I recently acquired for candy. I keep them with chocolates and Candy, took them out so you can appreciate the pretty lace in them.

Vintage French bombé end table at your right.

The fabric of the upholstery in the two couches is an Italian pure silk brocade.

I placed the fringes on the couches and also the tassels, myself; several years ago.

At left a vintage French girl with sheep, vintage porcelain dogs and a small Oriental jar.

The left vintage French Bombé end table with an antique lamp that was from my Mil's wedding more than 70 years ago.

Here is an antique, turn of the last century, French bronze figure of a jockey boy, German made dogs and a vintage French boy playing the flute.

Another vintage small and pretty end table next to this comfy chair.
I won the tiny table as my Mil had two of this antique things, so me and another Sil won the other; after she died.

I just came back to explain that the small Oriental screen, on top of the small end table that looks like it's painted; no,no, Nanette, as our friend Shelia would say... is made of 'white Chinese lacquer' and embossed 'jade figurines' and it is from the 1960's.

The pretty Cala in a basket painting was made by Alejandro's quite famous uncle who was an artist in Washington DC and Madrid. We have three lovely paintings from Luis Crespo Ordoñez.
Some of you know me by now; so back then I also decided that this small space needed a little side table too, therefore, I asked Alejandro if he can have one ordered in the same 'travertino marble' to match the coffee table and with the same lines as the coffee table and he immediately obliged!

Both tables in the travertino marble were made here in Cuenca-Ecuador, as there are great marbles in this area of the country.
Please disregard the lamp cord, but, don't know how to hide it for the moment.

With this one you've seen all four end tables I have around the living room.

The Art Nouveau bronze mirror, with mother of pearl was Alejandro's grandma... easily over 100 years old!

As you go to your right, passing by my grandma's antique black Viennese cane chair and the Antique Oriental 'canphor trunk,' ... is the door out...but I don't want you to go yet !

I reupholstered the chair at your right about a year and a half ago, with this pretty check fabric in pale green and yellow, to blend it with the couches and Chippendale chairs.

Before it was of a lovely green Italian silk fabric which our beloved 'Pug Ben' ruined it sleeping and scratching it, lol!

I love the Oriental Chippendale chairs! Alejandro gave them to me for my 40th. birthday, along with the dining room set.

The foyer in the background and the dining room in the foreground.

Thank you for coming wonderful friends, your visits always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great Parties!

LOVE,
FABBY

Tu as un salon prestigieux.
Je te fais de très gros bisous.

  4. Of course I am in love with your living room again. It reminds me of our Natchez home with all the antiques and wood furniture and the Asian touches. We really think alike, Fabby. Imagine tweaking the same room and posting it at the same time, lol....Christine
