FABBY: Slow Transition to Fall

Hello sweet friends!

I saw some gourds and small pumpkins in my local grocery store the other day, so I bought some and started to create a few small vignettes around my dining room, just to sort of go into a 'slow transition to Fall'... not that we have a four season weather in this country, mind you, but it's gorgeous out like a warm Fall, very windy and even some leaves are falling from the trees, besides pumpkins, gourds, etc are been sold in the market... and really it's a beautiful time of year around here as well, which always reminds me of Autumn in NYC.

"I am sad about how fast great comedian 'Joan Rivers' past away this week and it looks like maybe she shouldn't have, I've been hearing comments on the news."

" Anyway, she will be missed, I was a huge fan of hers. She had such an immense stamina and energy for a lady of 'just' 81. I simply adored her witted and fast humor, as she played 'Fashion Police' on E-TV and criticized the stars red carpet BAD choice in dressing, lol!

God bless her soul and thank you so much for making us laugh, she did me, for sure! "

Ok, here goes my Fall tweakings..

This vignette is done at the right side of the Italian buffet with gourds and small pumpkins on a Czech Onion bowl and some in the Meissen two tier server.
The teapot is Indischblau-Bavaria, Germany as well.

My collection of blue and white transferware plates and others, such as Dutch ones, Oriental and some are from our former Ceramic Factory, Monte Turi.

To the right wall, (not shown in the pic) there's more plates hanging.

The Onion bowl with such cute gourds and pumpkins that are showing up on the market around here lately too.

On the left side of the Italian buffet; as this piece has two sides with a china cabinet in the center....I arranged some Pink treasures
with the Lady Carlyle three tier server and some gourds on the Meissen bowl with girls playing hide and seek.

The candle holders are Bohemian from the Czech-Republic.

My third vignette is done on my vintage, American nesting tables that were my Mil's.

Some of you might remember I DIYed the blue cake stand a couple of years ago, using a lovely pretty cobalt blue Italian platter and I glued on a small blue bowl for a pedestal.

I did two; the other in crystal, which I gave to DD Sofia.

And my last and fourth Fall vignette is on the antique Egyptian console type.

I used my long cupcake cloche with small pumpkins, along with some antique liquor bottles from Alejandro's parents.

The cute  soldier holding, what looks like a big strawberry, is vintage French.

I call it a 'slow transition' because there is not much here to indicate BIG FALL, but just some small cute gourds and pumpkins added to some of my fave things around the dining room.

Thank you for your sweet and kind comments my friends, as you always make my day.

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

  1. Dear Fabby, LI, NY is getting a small heat wave. I suppose it is the of summer.
I don't mind the fall coming so soon. I love Thanksgiving season and all that it holds.

Your decorations look so pretty. I love the blue and the white with the splashes of color.

I will miss Joan too. My daughter and I enjoyed Fashion Police and Joan saying what everyone is thinking of some of the styles.
She was courageous and funny and true.
Have a beautiful weekend. Blessings dear. Catherine xo

  2. Sigh.......you make EVERYTHING so beautiful! I especially like the oranges & yellows with your blue and white transfer-ware plates, etc.

And I agree with you about Joan Rivers. I admired her greatly.

  3. OH! Just love them all...
Not least the Meissen two tier server. To the right of it, a pot with a pattern looks like one I collect.

  4. Hi Fabby, Everything looks gorgeous as it always does when I pop over here! It is still so hot here but tomorrow it's supposed to cool down some. I am so looking forward to the arrival of Fall. I don't have any decor out myself but will probably start putting some things here and there!

I love the piece of furniture with the marble top. So Beautiful!

  5. These little scenes look very welcoming and colourful. I really like the way you have incorporated meaningful personal objects into new arrangements without racing to the shops. It shows that these lovely things are always in your heart. A real home, filled with care.

  6. HI Fabby, how are you? I've had a very busy summer so haven't been around blogging a lot. Fall mums, pumpkins and gourds are for sale here now too. I decided to get some of my fall decor out today and put away my summer beach theme, shells etc. I don't want to rush the season but I needed a change even though it's been hot here all week (90F most days). It will cool down to normal next week which will feel more like fall. Blessings,
    Pam

  16. I am so in love with all of your blue and white collections. The onion bowl filled with the orange and creamy color gourds just hints of fall coming. I saw the gourds at the supermarkets yesterday and was tempted to buy some but resisted. I need to pack up and put away the rest of my summer decor before I start fall decorating. Have a wonderful week Fabby!

  19. You know what they say "less is more" and your few autumn decorations are pretty. White pumpkins have become quite popular in the last couple of years and they really do look nice paired with the orange and gourds.

  20. Oh, Fabby, how nice to hear from you! I've missed visiting you! I just don't know where the summer has gone, but I sure didn't get to my computer much! I completely understand your easing into fall--that's exactly my mentality. I've gone with sunflowers (just a few) for now and will continue my slow transition. We're having beautiful weather...not too hot, not too cold, and clear, beautiful blue skies. We actually had a very nice summer too.Your vignette with the pumpkins is beautiful, and I'm in love with your two-tiered server! Lovely as always! Carinos para ti y tu familia, Fabby. ~Zuni

  26. Hi Fabby,

I know what you mean about your country not having four clear cut seasons, like North America, since here on the island, we basically go from summer to winter, and from one minute to the next, to boot!

Your fall vignettes are very pretty and romantic. How lovely the orange is with the blue and white! The first image, as well as a few of the others look like still lifes!

    Have a wonderful week!

  35. Fabby, your fall touches are lovely in their subtlety. There's something very pretty about a little bit of orange with the blue and white - just right!

  36. I think that any of us that grew up watching Joan on TV will miss her :)

Lovely vignettes...my favorite is how the orange gourds make a pretty contrast with the blue dishes.

One of my neighbors has a pumpkin vine in their front yard this year...Just growing along the edge of their house. Looks so nice watching the pumpkins grow there and getting larger and larger as the days go by :)

  37. Hola Fabby,

I love, love, love your decor. It is always very elegant and refined. I am probably going to start my fall decor in the next few weeks since we still had a few hot summer days around here. I also loved Joan Rivers very much. She was a pioneer with a very generous heart. It is such a big loss. I do own lots of her jewelry. She had a very classsy and impeccable style.

Thank you for visiting me recently and leaving me your sweet words of encouragement. I am truly grateful.

I hope you can stop by for a visit.

    Hugs,

    Janet
