FABBY: A Purple Autumn Table

Hello sweet friends!

I just found out Kathleen at her meme "Let's Dish" is having a purple themed tablescape for Fall this Wednesday; so I promptly came up with this setting, because I already had a 'purple' sort of Thanksgiving table idea for this year.

Here is my inspiration for Kathleen's party, plus, I love her tablescape challenges, I get such fun out of them and visiting around your beautiful settings as well.

Ok, here is my collaboration for "Let's Dish-Purple Autumn Table."

I used a 'purple scarf' for the under cloth and used on top, one that's very lacy, so it can reflect on the setting the purple from under better.

I started setting the table with my purple chargers, white and gold Noritake dishes; purple Polish sherbet and water stems to match, along with German purple stems wine glasses.

I've been looking all over blogland, magazines and Pinterest; gold painted pumpkins and gourds, so I went to the cellar and dug out some dry ones I left from last year and proceeded to spray paint them and loved the result!

A high shot so you can see how my 'purple scarf' shows from under the lace tablecloth and picks up the hues from the purple glasses specially.

NO ORANGE !

The purple compotes and water glasses are a set and I have them in pink too, I just fell in love with them a few years ago.

Here I used gold candles from my C'mas stash to go with my 'gold Fall pumpkins.'

The wine glasses have purple stems and are German. The water glasses are Polish and are a set with the sherbets and I also have them in pink as well.

The cute water pitcher with purple flowers was my Mil's.

Oh!...I did paint some pinecones too.

I'm so happy this late afternoon is raining finally; there's much needed water in the river near my house that I love.

When it stopped raining the color became gold, or it's a reflection of the gold painted pinecones, gourds and pumpkins...who knows!

Thank you so much sweet ladies for dropping by for a lovely and kind visit, you always make my day!

Thanking the wonderful hostesses for having me at their great parties...and specially to the ladies that support me by featuring me, I'm always so very grateful!

At the end of this year I will mention your generosity.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Lots of Sunflowers for October

Hello sweet friends!

October-Fall is such a beautiful time of year and I have so many wonderful memories from growing up in Astoria-Queens in NY.

What I specially loved besides the beautiful weather, was the dry leaves in our Astoria Park, where we would go to play with my friends and jump and roll on top of the crunchy dry leaves...I loved the sound they made, such fun!

The weather here is like Fall, so I make believe it's a real 'Autumn Season,' plus is my birthday month, so yes, it's my fave time of year.

My grand girls are coming today to spend ten days with us on a school vacation they have, so I made this table setting with a sunflower theme, since Autumn is oficcially in the USA, now. Along with sunflowers, plates and placemats, which I know they're gonna love!

I know I will be very busy with sweet Victoria and Cayetana, so I created this setting for their lunch and for you, my dearest friends.

Happy October Fall, y'all !

Sunflowers, plates, and placemats.

I was with Alejandro the other day buying a gift and he spotted these sunflower plates and said: 'look how cute;' so I in turn immediately purchased them, (that's what I understood he meant, lol!)

A high shot!

I had these pretty sunflower big napkins which now I decided to use them as placemats cause I think the G'girls are gonna love them!

Multiple Choice dinner plates with yellow edges and sunflower salad plates.

The English buffet all done up for October-Fall, 2014.

The Italian amber stems are for the girls' orange juice; they love to play grown up..hehehe

I arranged the small pumpkins and gourds on a small dough bowl I keep all year round with the fruit in the kitchen.

The teacups are cute, they always seem to me as they have 'stitchings' around them!

The vintage Dutch chairs always look good come Fall, cause they're in an orange velvet with brown leaves.

You remember my new vintage French table hubby bought two months ago for our breakfast room.
Before we had one with a lovely 'alabaster marble' top that we gifted our DD Alexandra and the friends that follow me probably saw it at my post of Alexandra's home when we visited her last month.

NOTE:  I just came back to tell you that the little girls totally loved the table, specially the sunflower plates...hehehe...

Thank you so much sweet ladies for your kind and sweet visits, you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties and a special appreciation and thanks for the supportive and wonderful hostesses that always feature my posts.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Lugubrious Tablescapes from my Past Halloweens

Hello sweet friends!

I wanted to join sweet Natasha, from Natasha in Oz, great blog.
She is having a Halloween party called: 'What's Scarier Linky Party' today and I'm sure we could get inspired for this year's Halloween, as I for one have no idea, so far!

...and with that said, here I'm joining with some images from my last three year's Halloween tablescapes.

My first blogging year Halloween tablescape, 2011.

The white and black platter has Oreo cookies, as a muddy soil and candy snakes crawling from under it. My grandgirls just loved these!

When I had my Mil's antique mirror on top of her English buffet, I also decorated it.
Since, I gave my DD Alexandra the mirror.

The link of this tablescape ,if you would like to go by.

Halloween 2012.

There was also a cloche party at Marty's, A Stroll Thru life, at that time, so there were some cloches in this setting, as well.

Look at the rat!  My G'girl Victoria gave it to me, lol..

FABBY: September Rosary Gathering

Hello sweet friends!

It's incredible for me to realize we are at the end of September and October is just around the corner.

As most of you know I host a Rosary prayer at my house the last Wednesday of every month and before I can start planning is the the fourth Wednesday of  another month...the days and months just fly away in front of our eyes and before we realize it, it'll be C'mas season 2014!

Anyway, so much for that rhetoric about time.

I've set two tables this time because we were fifteen. I sat nine in the big dining table and six in the breakfast table.

Ok, here they are...oh and yes; you are all welcomed to request special prayers, and it doesn't matter your religion, our Lord always listens!

Onion dishes in lbue and white. Hutschenreuther platter for cookies.
Dutch Delft blue and white centerpiece vase with small pumpkins and gourds.

Crocheted white tablecloth a heirloom from Alejandro's grandmother.

Harvest Pumpkin Chocolate Cake.
The recipe is at the end of this post, if you wish...it's great!

Bread buns to eat with cheese and home made jams.

The other side of the Dutch Delft arrangement with gourds.

The recipe is at the end of the post, if anyone wants it. I
suggest you try it my friends, as it is yummy! There was not a 'crumb' left in the plates!

German teapot.

Vintage Chinese dishes. Lace beige table spread I bought last year on sale with a 50% off.

Later I served in the glass 'lazy-susan' cookies, a basket of buns, cheese and the home made jams you see here...and of course, Pumpkin cake.

This is a vintage Chinese set of dishes, besides the fact I have them for at least 30 years!
The teacups are so thin and you can see through them; hubby says they are called, 'onion skin porcelain.'

The pretty dish with small flowers is Minton and it was my Mil's... where I served some cookies later.

The gords are only to give it a Fall touch for the pic, lol..

The water station, as the ladies always require some water after tea time. The day was warm here today too.

Pumpkin Chocolate Harvest Cake
2/3 cups softened butter, (not margarine)
2 cups sugar
1 whole egg
2 egg whites
2 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 (15 oz.) can solid-pack pumpkin
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon water

Heat oven to 350F.  Grease and flower pan; set aside. In large bowl of K. Aid, or whatever you have..beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and egg whites; mix until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and 1/2 cup water; mix on low speed until blended, scraping bowl often. Increase speed to medium, and beat 2 minutes.
Remove 3/4 cup of the batter and put in a small bowl. Spoon reserved batter into prepared pan.
To reserved batter, add cocoa and 1 tablespoon water; stir to combine. Place spoonfuls of chocolate batter  on top of batter in pan. Using a knife, swirl chocolate batter, into pumpkin batter to marble.

Bake 40 to 47 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely.

Thank you so much for your visits sweet ladies, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY
