Back Home from Madrid and Table !

Hello sweet friends and Table !

Well, like the title of this post says, we are back from Madrid. I hope you are all doing well and happy. I'm always glad to be back specially for you all, to contact myself with my dear bloggy buddies.

We had a wonderful trip and visit with our dear daughter Alexandra, SIL Sergio and baby Max who is 2 years and 5 months already and very tall !
She goes to a pre-school and loves it, this way she can mingle with kids her age. It's a British school therefore, she sings, she plays, she draws and learns everything in English.

Besides beautiful Spain, specially Madrid where we spent most of the time, SIL Sergio drove us to Portugal making stops in Porto and other marvelous cities from Spain as well as Portugal. What a wonderful trip we had.

I am missing my baby girl, Alexandra and Sergio as it was a pleasure to be with them for a whole month.

While shopping in my fav department store in 'Madrid - El Corte Ingles,' I went to do my rounds to the home floor where they have the 'Lladro' figurines I love and wonderful chinas. While looking around and drooling over so many lovelies I spotted a set of china that called my name very loud, so I couldn't pass her by !

So I bought it for ten place settings because it's what fits on the formal dining table. Yes! I bought it, it was calling my name very loudly ! It's a Portuguese made bone-china specially made for the "El Corte Ingles" and it has a magnolia flower pattern, with mostly white, green leaves and yellow in the center of the magnolia flower. Yet it's very elegant with a gold trim, but in a very sober and understated way.

See for yourself.

Our dearest Baby Maxima is now 2 years and 5 months already and is simply adorable carrying a huge chocolate Easter egg ! We had a chance to enjoy her for a month and of course as you might guess, we are missing her so much.

Here she is, my new doll...err china addition to my 'china collection.'

To create this table spread I decided on a flower plant with tiny yellow flowers as centerpiece, flanked by two soup bowls with Japanese grass... and lots of 'green' as the dishes.

The first thing I loved about this plates was the white 'Magnolia' pattern it has and the sales lady told me it's a style tendency. It is such a lovely and fragrant big flower, plus it's a pattern we can use all year round, it's simple enough.

I used to create this table my 'German' transparent crystal chargers (Natchtmann) so not to take away from the soft and delicate pattern of the china with any other color.

Here I placed my green water glass paired with Italian wine glasses.

It's 'Bone China' very translucent by the light, as it said in the back stickers on the plates, plus instructions for care.

Hubby knows about porcelain and ceramics and the difference between them, as he owned a Ceramic Co. and he said it is made of a very fine bone china porcelain.

The teacup and deep saucer are so pretty, it reminds me of the old fashion shape of cups.

Thank you dear friends for your kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

                                                      LOVE,
                                                      FABBY

"Toile de Jouy" Valance for the Dining Room and Goodbye.

Hello sweet friends !

I'm still wishing you all a great celebration for "St. Patrick's Day" coming up the 17th. of March. There is a Shamrock china setting posted along with this one.

Some of you who follow me know I just reupholstered my dining chairs with a beautiful 'Toile de Jouy' we acquired while in Miami this past January.

I mentioned in that post that I wanted to make a 'Valance' for our dining room window by the breakfast area, if I was lucky to have material left over from the chairs, which we did !

Well, we just placed it today after we had it delivered by the upholstery shop and we think it made the area look warm and elegant.
Hubby used to DIY this job when we lived in our farm, but now he says he's not in the mood, lol..

Anyhow, here it is for you to judge.

I also want to say goodbye to you as we will be away for a month in Spain visiting our daughter Alexandra, Sergio and baby Maxima again. We will travel to the south of Spain this time and go as far as Portugal for a month.

Wishing you a very happy and blessed Easter.

This is a big window and the only one in this room, that's why I wanted the "Valance" on it, to make it more warm and elegant, although it's no biggie, but it turned out just like I imagined it would.

The window it's also by the breakfast room; as I mentioned it many times before, we have it adjacent to the formal dining area, this way we can accommodate sitting spaces for 16 guests if we wanted to host a big dinner party.

Now with the 'Valance' matching the chairs with the Toile, I love the Toile I chose even more !

A little Spring and Easter touch with some cute bunnies, just to wish you a very happy and blessed Easter.

See you around the 22th. of April.

Thank you dear friends for your kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

Shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day

Hello sweet friends !

Next 17th. of March is St. Patrick's Day, the patron of Ireland.

I've set a table with my 'shamrock' china that was made back at our former Ceramic Co., Monte Turi, that was my husband Alejandro's and I worked with the designs of the china. We had 14 designs, all inspired in the embroidered clothing of the indigenous people of Ecuador.

These set of dishes has many pieces and it's a coincidence that they also have 'shamrocks' in them.

I must stress that all the dishes were hand decorated as well as hand made by the 'wheel,' as in the movie 'Ghost,' lol..

Wishing all my Irish and not bloggy friends a wonderful St. Patrick's Day 2018.

Here is my table in honor of the Irish Patron.

The stars of this tablescape in honor of Irish patron St. Patrick are the shamrock plates.
As centerpiece I used greenery, a lovely 'Anthodium plant.'

The shamrocks are embroidered in some men's shirts cuffs and collars.
I wasn't blogging when I designed this decoration, but hey, I'm so thrilled for the coincidence in using the dishes for a St. Pat's table setting.

Aren't they so pretty? I love these Shamrock and flower pattern, plus such a green background, couldn't work better for St. Patrick's if I wanted to !

I used these quilted place mats with lots of greens that my dear daughter Sofia's gifted me for  Christmas, many years ago.

This setting has 12 tea serving pieces and eight dinner servings.

My 'anthodium' had two pretty red flowers, but one fell and one is growing.

There are also many serving pieces to this china.

Thank you dear friends for your kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

February Rosary Tea.

Hello sweet friends !

It's that time of the month when I host my monthly Rosary ministry with a group of dear friends; as you know, we dedicate it to peace in the world for blessings to countries torn with wars. The very ill, families as well as friends and the countries we live in.

We always receive special requests for friends and family and we always oblige and not forget, we are always very happy to do so, therefore, feel free.

Here is the setting I fixed for this month's humble tea time after prayers.

I love this Begonia flower pot, they last a long time and the color is perfect with the tones of this table setting.

I love the Begonia in this tone of pink, it looks like it's full of tiny roses.

This porcelain Ecuadorian country girl making 'Panama' hats was hand made by an artist, back at our Ceramic Co.

The branch with bird was also made at our past Ceramic Co.

Here, in the other side of the setting is another Ecuadorian country girl making potato-dumplings. Also hand made by the same artist at our Ceramic Co.

This complete tea service is for eight place servings, plus a tea-set. I love it cause it's so delicate with flowers which makes Spring come to mind.

This is my first place setting after we received our newly "Toile de Jouy" upholstered dining chairs with the backs in a pretty 'hounds tooth.' I did a post before this one, just in case.

Thank you dear friends for your kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

"Toile de Jouy" for my Dining Chairs

Hello sweet friends !

Last January, while we were visiting with our dear Alexandra and her family, I had plans to buy a "Toile de Jouy" material for reupholstering my dining chairs, that had seen it's days.

So we just got them fresh from the shop yesterday. I can't hide my excitement at how elegant and wonderful they look, thus refreshing the entire dining room.

I decided upon using another pattern material for the back of the chairs and found a 'Houndtooth' in navy and salmon just like the background color of the front of the chairs, of course.

I was saying to Mr. Living this morning when I first glanced at them, that it looks like a whole new dining furniture !

Here I'm sharing them with you, I hope you like them as well.

My dream was always if I ever reupholster my dining chairs, Toile would be my first choice.

Isn't it petty ? This is a 'Paysannerie' French pattern Toile de Jouy.

We loved this combo for the back of the chairs. A small navy and salmon  'Houndtooth' material, that blended perfectly... we thought.

I was thinking of gray, blue and white, others that might catch my eye, etc.
Then, walking front, right, left and back of that huge warehouse all of a sudden I saw it and that was it, color and print !

Love the classic 'country scenery' print of it... the pattern name is 'Paysannerie.'

The before stayed like this for 26 years... uff !
The material had a pale pinkish and blue streak, that long since had faded with time, lol..

Thank you dear friends for your sweet and kind comments, you always make my day !

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY
