FABBY: September Rosary Gathering

Hello sweet friends!

It's incredible for me to realize we are at the end of September and October is just around the corner.

As most of you know I host a Rosary prayer at my house the last Wednesday of every month and before I can start planning is the the fourth Wednesday of  another month...the days and months just fly away in front of our eyes and before we realize it, it'll be C'mas season 2014!

Anyway, so much for that rhetoric about time.

I've set two tables this time because we were fifteen. I sat nine in the big dining table and six in the breakfast table.

Ok, here they are...oh and yes; you are all welcomed to request special prayers, and it doesn't matter your religion, our Lord always listens!

Onion dishes in lbue and white. Hutschenreuther platter for cookies.
Dutch Delft blue and white centerpiece vase with small pumpkins and gourds.

Crocheted white tablecloth a heirloom from Alejandro's grandmother.

Harvest Pumpkin Chocolate Cake.
The recipe is at the end of this post, if you wish...it's great!

Bread buns to eat with cheese and home made jams.

The other side of the Dutch Delft arrangement with gourds.

The recipe is at the end of the post, if anyone wants it. I
suggest you try it my friends, as it is yummy! There was not a 'crumb' left in the plates!

German teapot.

Vintage Chinese dishes. Lace beige table spread I bought last year on sale with a 50% off.

Later I served in the glass 'lazy-susan' cookies, a basket of buns, cheese and the home made jams you see here...and of course, Pumpkin cake.

This is a vintage Chinese set of dishes, besides the fact I have them for at least 30 years!
The teacups are so thin and you can see through them; hubby says they are called, 'onion skin porcelain.'

The pretty dish with small flowers is Minton and it was my Mil's... where I served some cookies later.

The gords are only to give it a Fall touch for the pic, lol..

The water station, as the ladies always require some water after tea time. The day was warm here today too.

Pumpkin Chocolate Harvest Cake
2/3 cups softened butter, (not margarine)
2 cups sugar
1 whole egg
2 egg whites
2 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 (15 oz.) can solid-pack pumpkin
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon water

Heat oven to 350F.  Grease and flower pan; set aside. In large bowl of K. Aid, or whatever you have..beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and egg whites; mix until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and 1/2 cup water; mix on low speed until blended, scraping bowl often. Increase speed to medium, and beat 2 minutes.
Remove 3/4 cup of the batter and put in a small bowl. Spoon reserved batter into prepared pan.
To reserved batter, add cocoa and 1 tablespoon water; stir to combine. Place spoonfuls of chocolate batter  on top of batter in pan. Using a knife, swirl chocolate batter, into pumpkin batter to marble.

Bake 40 to 47 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely.

Thank you so much for your visits sweet ladies, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Visiting our Daughter Alexandra

Hello sweet friends!

Alejandro and I have been for almost a week visiting our Miss Living, Alexandra, for her birthday, September 16th.

Here are some photos from the dinner party we did that very evening for her, her boyfriend and us.

I cooked a real great dinner, (if I may say so myself, lol)

Here goes part of Alexandra's beautiful high rise apartment in Quito-Ecuador.

I love her apartment, it's just great and so comfy with two big bedrooms and three baths and of course, laundry room, fabulous storage, lovely kitchen, etc.

We were four for her birthday dinner...Mr. Living, me, Miss Living and her boyfriend.

The gorgeous dishes in pink and green were designed by her at our past Ceramic Co. and the design came from a dwindle embroidered skirt she saw on an indigenous woman and took a picture for me to reproduce it in the china.

Here, at left the pasta bowl, where I served home made 'Capelleti' with pesto sauce, as the entree. The small pan with a handle is with the Parmesan cheese.
Here is the design of the dinner plate...of course these dishes have lots of pieces!
Alexandra saw the woman wearing one embroidered skirt in green and another on top embroidered in pink.

The salad plate was made in pink to contrast the green in the dinner plate.
Both, are made by potter's wheel and hand decorated as well.
Which mean that both procedures are 'made by hand'...as all our dishes from Alejandro's past factory were.

Cream of soup bowl with handles.

The dining set is vintage French and upholstered with blue leather, which I love and the two at the ends are in a blue pattern material.

I mentioned to Alexandra that blue transferware would look great in the table and she said: 'I don't like that look'...I felt soo sick, lol!

Alexandra has also modern dish wear too... and a set from her grandma she loves, with lots of strawberries...so I can't expect 'everyone' to go for transferware, right?

Isn't this view to die for? Some of the spectacular view from her apartment window, which in real life is so much more panoramic and incredibly stunning than what you see here, in the pic!

Both, in the day time and evening the view is over the top gorgeous, with the highest Andean mountains in the world and snowed up peaks, but down in the city weather is dry, sunny and about 80.

If you'd like a tour of beautiful 'Quito- Ecuador, Patrimony of Humanity;' I posted a while ago... here is the link:

My dearest birthday girl!

The friends that always follow me know I sent my gorgeous alabaster round table to DD Alex, after hubby bought another lovely vintage French table for our breakfast room.
Here it is in Alexandra's foyer now! As you enter the house there's a long corridor and at the end you hit the table, so it's perfect here!

Thanks for your sweet and kind comments, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties.

FABBY

FABBY: My Kitchen has Fallen

Hello sweet friends!

I decorated my kitchen for Fall specially cause mother comes for lunch and spends every Wednesday with Alejandro and me.

I've set a table for three, plus the Fall décor my mom loves and reminds her of Astoria-Queens, NY, in the Fall, which is my home town.

Fall is our favorite time of year where there is a four season climate and here where we live is right now chilly, but for most it feels like Fall, so yes, I feel really ready, lol!

Ok, here is my Fall Kitchen.

I fixed a lunch table for mother who always comes for lunch and to spend the day with Alejandro and me every Wednesday for many years.

The table in our kitchen nook is sort of a butcher block and I kept it from our country home, some 34 years ago... so it's 'almost' vintage now, hehehe

I love that warm rustic look it gives to our kitchen, but I do need to have it sand down and fixed those opened slits caused by so many years of use.

I bought two rustic ceramic pumpkins for $2.50 each; like this green one and the other in a gold tone, at your upper right hand.

I found them in the 'folkloric-art fair' sale the other day.

I also found this adorable wooden tool box in the fair for $12.

Mother loves soup and the custom here is a bigger lunch, starting with a soup and a second meat dish, since dinner is  very light.

Some of you might remember I bought this great shell-roos back in May when we went around the coastal region of Ecuador.

My tool box is done up with gourds and little pumpkins, blue and white dishes and red teacups, and the flatware is inside antique pewter teapot.

The burnt orange, 'straw-shawl' hand made place mats were also bought back at our May vacation. They are hand made little daisy's.

I love the ceramic rustic pumpkins, though!

Looks like the rooster flew up to here now, lol..

The yellow and green ceramic pumpkin in the corner of the sink; is the other one I found at the 'folkloric-art market.'

A very old tarnished pitcher is now my flower vase.

English-Staffordshire red teapot for some tea with dessert.

I love the blue and white transferware dishes paired with the burnt orange place mats.

Thank you for visiting me sweet friends, as your comments always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties.

LOVE,
FABBY
