FABBY: "Memory-Christmas Tree" 2013 in the Den

Hello sweet friends!

I am all decked out since last week, except I thought I'll start posting until my Tksgiving tables are ready for the day of thanks.

I'll start the small tour by showing you the big thing, which for me it's my Memory Tree. I call it this way because I have ornaments collected since our very first tree from our first C'mas as a couple, back in 1975.

Many ornaments are also gifts from my parents, my in laws, aunts, my grandmother, friends; even some were made in our past ceramic company by our daughters when they were children and gifts by my daughters now that they are adults.

There are C'mas balls from Alejandro's own C'mas tree when he was a child. There's also ornaments from different trips we've made to other countries, including the patriotic ones from the USA, as well. Many of the 'gifters' are not with me anymore, so the more I save them with love and thoughts.

I so cherish each ornament in this tree, I could never have a 'theme tree' perse.. of any type, or even a different color that it's not the classic holiday colours because of my 'memory tree'... like red, green, white, silver and gold, as now there are many new colors on style to choose from.

Ok, here it goes, hope you like it!

Here you have it, our den all decked out, with mantel and "Memory C'mas Tree" up!
I explained why I call our tree like this at the beginning of this post.

The mantel is ready too and right next is the tree. The Den is our C'mas room when where we all gather to open up presents and where my g'girls watch TV and eat snacks, lol! The TV center is next to the tree.

The mantel now has the Nativity scene without the village like I used to do before inside the fire place in the past.
NYCity's St. Patrick's Cathedral at your right and it's so pretty when lighted, but it's difficult to see in the photo, as the lights are soo tiny!

St. Patrick's Cathedral at your right, just like the one in my home town NYCity.

I won this Nativity and many other C'mas things several years ago, because I taught in a store how to do a tree and place the lights.

I added the plaid ribbons and gold mesh in the tree myself and learned from an Internet tutorial.
A small ornament figure of a pug to remind us of our beloved pet Ben.

My daughter Sofia when she was two in the small picture frame.

The bottom part of the tree, where there's a small ceramic Santa made by one of our two daughters when they were young children. There's many and different figurines like these by the girls, all around the tree.
My daughter Alexandra in the little tree picture frame.

My little g'girls in the small wreath picture frame. My God Bless America C'mas ball, which was a gift my friend Stephanie gave me right after 9-11.

Many, many years of ornaments. The German glass Santa in the cloche is vintage.

I had fun placing the ribbons and mesh this year for the first time. I always wanted to do this, but finally did it from a tutorial I saw on Internet.

A small tea table with 'Pumpkin and Chocolate Cake,' as my Sils were coming to coordinate the 'Crespo family' yearly C'mas get together party.

The Chocolate Pumpkin Cake set for tea with cute mugs and teapot made at our former Ceramic Factory.

This cake is great. The recipe is at the end of this post, if anyone wants it.

Here is our den all ready for the Christmas holidays 2013.

Pumpkin Chocolate Harvest Cake
2/3 cups softened butter, (not margarine)
2 cups sugar
1 whole egg
2 egg whites
2 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 (15 oz.) can solid-pack pumpkin
1/2 cup water
3 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon water

Heat oven to 350F.  Grease and flower pan; set aside. In large bowl of K. Aid, or whatever you have..beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and egg whites; mix until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and 1/2 cup water; mix on low speed until blended, scraping bowl often. Increase speed to medium, and beat 2 minutes.
Remove 3/4 cup of the batter and put in a small bowl. Spoon reserved batter into prepared pan.
To reserved batter, add cocoa and 1 tablespoon water; stir to combine. Place spoonfuls of chocolate batter  on top of batter in pan. Using a knife, swirl chocolate batter, into pumpkin batter to marble.

Bake 40 to 47 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely.

Thank you sweet friends for your great comments, you always make my day.

Thanking the gracious hostesses for hosting such awesome parties each week.

LOVE,
FABBY

FABBY: Thanksgiving in the Breakfast Table

Hello sweet friends!

I said I was gonna share my breakfast table ready for Tksgiving and here it is set for four guests.

I used the dishes made back at our Ceramic Co., Monte Turi. The dishes were inspired in the indigenous people of Ecuador, beautiful hand embroidered apparel. I also designed these patterns and we had 14 pattern desigs and had them hand decorated entirely, besides the fact that they were also 'hand-made' by a Potter's Wheel...for some who don't know what that is, it's just like what Demi Moore was doing in the movie Ghost.

These dishes are multi-colored, but predominantly orange and some cobalt blue in the plate's edges, therefore, I used my newest blue water stems and sherbets to match.

And last, but not least, I chose my beige openwork tablecloth, as the friends that have followed me know I bought it on sale back in July at 50% off.

Ok, here you have it.

The hand made and hand decorated dishes from our former Ceramic Co. I explained about them at the heading of this post.

The lovely tablecloth with the openwork I bought with a 50% off on sale back in July.

The blue water stems I bought a dozen around a month ago, along with the blue sherbets to match...always thinking for my blue and white dishes.

Each place setting has a wicker and cane chargers.

I always find cloches a great centerpiece for a small tables, because they hardly takes up any space, specially if they're raised, like here.

I love the pattern on the dinner plate with the orange center.

Dinner plate, salad plate and bread plate.

To elevate the cloche with the gourds and small pumpkins I used a cake pedestal from the same china.

The candle holders are also part of the china.

This station is set in the marble pull out tray from the antique Belgium buffet, which is a detail the antique pieces had. I'm sure you can hardly see them, but the espresso Peruvian antique spoons are sterling with jade, and were my Mil's.

The cups are small demitasse for espresso coffee for after Tksgiving dinner. Notice the sugar bowl and creamer have ducks in the lids...so cute!

"It's beginning to look like Christmas" too, lol!

The amber wine glasses are Italian-Mario Santini... and I love them paired with the blue water stems.

Alejandro's grandparents English buffet is decorated for C'mas now. I'm really all decked out, so after the Tksgiving is over, C'mas will be all set to go at our house, lol!

The Christmas tea set was also made back at our Ceramic Co. I designed the pattern from a holiday piece of cloth. I have many pieces like this for the C'mas holidays.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments my sweet friends, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for the great parties they host each week for us.

FABBY: Tablescape Ready for Thanksgiving 2013

Hello sweet friends!

I finally have my Thanksgiving 2013 table in the formal dining table ready, as the breakfast table it's not ready yet and will be set for five or six settings.

I inspired myself this year for giving thanks to our Lord for everything, family, friends, and our home in the Andean mountains where I feel so safe..... using my dearest Mother in Law's antique china as it's ivory trimmed with gold and lovely pink roses with splashes of blue and proudly made in the United-States more than 70 years ago.....along with her lovely hand crocheted tablecloth and antique French Art Nuovo centerpiece bowl, arranged with some gourds.

Here you have it... I hope you like it.

I remembered when my dear Mil would set her lovely tables with this hand made crochet tablecloth I always covet it and I was so lucky I inherited it from her!

I selected two chargers to anchor the stack. The first one is brown to stand out the reticulated ivory charger, as the tablecloth is ivory too and the china is of the same hues.

I used pine cones as name holders with a small card with a turkey printed on.

I love this oil hurricanes that were a gift from my sweet niece, as she had them as centerpieces for her wedding and she had bought many for her tables, therefore, she gifted mother, (her grandma) and me with one each and now I have them both, lol!
I will also be decorating them for C'mas as well.

My house it's also 'beginning to look like Christmas!' Some 'bling in the chandy.'

I love the aqua-blue in the antique French bowl against the orange and green of the gourds.

The china set has two of these big turkey platters and many other serving pieces too; as originally it was for 24 place settings and I say this cause some pieces are broken or non existing, but all in all I have at least 16 complete place settings, which is huge!

My in laws had a huge home at one time and entertained lots of people at once...course, she had other lovely dishes too.

I may be changing the bows into red, gold and green ribbons for C'mas.

I used my Polish pink and purple water glasses, paired with the Mexican hand blown for wine.

Alejandro's own place setting. The breakfast table in the background will soon be set too. I'm thinking of setting it with a Christmas touch, I'm not sure, even if it will be for Tksgiving!

I used to admire this hand crochet tablecloth so much and now I'm so lucky to own it..(sigh)

My house is "beginning to look like Christmas." The tree is done, which for me is the tough part of all! I will be sharing the C'mas Holiday decor around the house after celebrating Tksgiving, or along with it, lol!

I love these oil hurricane, I'm so glad mother gave me hers too, lol!

Tea or coffee station for after Tksgiving dinner.

While I was at my daughter's for the First Communion of a friend's g'boy, I bought this gorgeous white Portuguese pitcher.

My Mil left Alejandro this lovely antique piece that was bought in France in the past early century and was engraved with their initials and they coincidental are our initials as well, C.A. This piece came from Alejandro's father side of the family.

Thank you so much wonderful friends for your sweet and kind comments, as you always make my day!

Thanking the lovely and gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties each week.

LOVE,
FABBY
