Hello sweet friends!
I'm sorry I haven't been around for a little over two weeks and I've missed you!
You see we've been having Victoria and Cayetana, our adorable grandgirls for a couple of weeks and I know most of you know how much time kids need from us the grands... and by the way, they're still here, hehehee
I've even hosted Cayetana's ninth birthday bash with twenty kids of various ages and it was a success. I'll do a little post soon, but in the meanwhile, here is my new kitchen 'wall plate rack' I've been wanting and planning it for so long, but never got to go ahead and do it!
Hubby was going to build it himself, but the girls came so he made a draft of what we wanted and had it made at the same place where we had our kitchen cabinets done five years ago... except it's white so it just fades with the white wall.
With that said...
The picture above shows what the little space behind the entrance door to the kitchen was before, with just the girls drawings when they were very young. |
I'm so excited this project is finally concluded and looking great too!
These three shelves at the lowest part of the plate rack is a bonus, where I placed some tins with our coffee, Stevia and white sugar pockets, along with all my teas of many different flavors. |
So Mr. Living 'just' did a little tweaking and he said knowing you, you will have a tin collection in no time to fill this space, lol.. He loved the teas gathered together alone. I think I do too! |
The door next to the rack opens to the dining room. This is what it's like when we open the kitchen service entrance door. Therefore, the plate rack rests on the wall directly towards the back of the door. Thank you so much for your sweet and kind comments, you always make my day! Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties. I just found out dearest and sweet Sally D'Stefano of BLUE MONDAY and SMILING SALLY BLOG, has died and it is such a sad news for us bloggers and our small community. I always thought of Blue Monday when I created a post and was so happy I had something BLUE so I can join her. I guess our Lord Jesus has invited her to join His party, the best one of all! Hi Fabby, that was so sweet of your hubby to have your plate rack made for you..,it's simply beautiful, love how you dressed it all up with your gorgeous items .......enjoy the grand babies my friend...
ReplyDeleteSmiles~
Mari
That looks great! What a perfect thing to do with a skinny little spot. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you link up with Thoughts of Home on Thursday. We'd love to have you.
Wow that turned out so nice! I like how it holds big platters and the teas below. Sounds like you had some fun with 20 kids for a birthday party!
Gros bisous ♡
Fabby, this is a terrific idea! I'm always in need of more storage space. Sadly, I don't think I have any wall space for a rack like this.
ReplyDeleteOne of my readers left a message about Sally. Very sad! I will miss her. Like you, I always tried to include something blue in my post, just for Sally.
Enjoy the grand girls!
Fabby, your sweet husband gets a GOLD STAR for having that plate rack made for you. Such a lot of though went into, that is obvious. t is in the perfect place. I think a plate rack like that is such a good idea for those large platters that we like to use, but might not think of when they are hidden away.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your granddaughters!
Fabby, this is a great idea! I love having more storage space, we all need it.
ReplyDeleteI know everyone is sad about Sally's passing. I will always fondly remember her. She reminded me of CC who passed away in September 2010. I met her through Pink Saturday and each week she visited all the participates no matter if Beverly had 50 or 150! She was one of those rare friends you find here and I still miss her and her kindness. She was a fan of Sunbonnet Sue. We lost two wonderful bloggers recently. Besides Sally we lost EG CameraGirl from Canada. Both she and her husband were taken in a car accident. Life is short enjoy it while you are here!
Enjoy those beautiful grand littles too! They grow up way too quickly and then they are off to college.
Take care and have a nice week with your family.
Blessings, Anne
Your hubby is very talented and what a great design he came up with and made! Fabby - you will sure enjoy this in the perfect location. Enjoy your grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteHi Fabby, nice to hear from you again. Glad you got to spend time with the grandgirls! Your plate rack is really nice and perfect for that space! I like your platters in it. Platters are hard to find space for, so that is perfect! Your hubby did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteHappy March!
gina

ReplyDeleteI love this. We have been thinking about building a narrow shelf in the kitchen, too, but I never thought of including plate racks . . . that is a wonderful idea. Thank you for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Connie :)
What a wonderful spot for your platters Fabby! So easy to get to now, so you can use them easily.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your blogger friend. I didn't know her. You are right that she is now at the best party of all. xo Deborah

How ingenious of you and Alejandro to convert that wall to a plate rack, which would have been just a wasted wall. Now you can display your trays. I am so sad about Sally too but I know she us smiling in heaven with Jesus now above the blue skies
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with all of us at Thoughts of home on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteYour plate rack is wonderful.

Oh my gosh Fabby, I did not know that about Sally. So sad! I didn't join a lot, but she will be missed in blogland. Love your plate rack! Your hubby was so clever to design it. I would never have thought to put something like that in that small area, but boy did it ever work! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

ReplyDeleteIt's perfect!
HI dear Fabby! I'm sure you've had a marvelous time with your little granddaughters and how nice to host a birthday party too! Now your plate rack looks wonderful! I love it and the design looks great What a wonderful place for platters and such. The bottom shelves look good too with your tea things. Yes, I'm sure you'll have a nice collection of tea tins soon! :) Thank you so much for the visit.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Your rack is exactly what I want in our dining room. It's a small space and we have some narrow pieces of furniture, but my husband still tends to bump into them. If you don't mind my being personal, was it expensive to have built? I don't want to spend a lot of money on it
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say thank you for sharing at SYC.
ReplyDeleteFabby, What a wonderful plate shelf and bonus space for tea and coffee. I'm working on a solution for tea storage and this is a wonderful solution. I appreciate your comment about have the plates close at hand. I tend to use what I see and that sometimes having stuff about. Thanks for sharing. Sylvia D.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I came by today to see this amazing plate rack. What a great use of space in such a creative way. So nice you could do her party.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted one, but no perfect wall for it, yours is perfect, and with your beautiful collection, even more so! Enjoy Fabby dear!
ReplyDeleteFabby, your plate rack is just perfect! How thoughtful of your dear hubby to have it made for you! I just love it! To have everything within reach like that is so convenient and it looks fantastic too. So glad you shared this with us. Have a lovely day.
