Hello sweet friends!
It's incredible for me to realize we are at the end of September and October is just around the corner.
As most of you know I host a Rosary prayer at my house the last Wednesday of every month and before I can start planning is the the fourth Wednesday of another month...the days and months just fly away in front of our eyes and before we realize it, it'll be C'mas season 2014!
Anyway, so much for that rhetoric about time.
I've set two tables this time because we were fifteen. I sat nine in the big dining table and six in the breakfast table.
Ok, here they are...oh and yes; you are all welcomed to request special prayers, and it doesn't matter your religion, our Lord always listens!
Onion dishes in lbue and white. Hutschenreuther platter for cookies. Dutch Delft blue and white centerpiece vase with small pumpkins and gourds. |
Crocheted white tablecloth a heirloom from Alejandro's grandmother. |
Harvest Pumpkin Chocolate Cake. The recipe is at the end of this post, if you wish...it's great! |
Bread buns to eat with cheese and home made jams. |
The other side of the Dutch Delft arrangement with gourds. |
The recipe is at the end of the post, if anyone wants it. I suggest you try it my friends, as it is yummy! There was not a 'crumb' left in the plates! |
German teapot. |
Vintage Chinese dishes. Lace beige table spread I bought last year on sale with a 50% off. |
Later I served in the glass 'lazy-susan' cookies, a basket of buns, cheese and the home made jams you see here...and of course, Pumpkin cake. |
This is a vintage Chinese set of dishes, besides the fact I have them for at least 30 years! The teacups are so thin and you can see through them; hubby says they are called, 'onion skin porcelain.' |
The pretty dish with small flowers is Minton and it was my Mil's... where I served some cookies later. |
The gords are only to give it a Fall touch for the pic, lol.. |
The water station, as the ladies always require some water after tea time. The day was warm here today too. Pumpkin Chocolate Harvest Cake 2/3 cups softened butter, (not margarine) 2 cups sugar 1 whole egg 2 egg whites 2 1/3 cups flour 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1 (15 oz.) can solid-pack pumpkin 1/2 cup water 3 tablespoons cocoa 1 tablespoon water Heat oven to 350F. Grease and flower pan; set aside. In large bowl of K. Aid, or whatever you have..beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and egg whites; mix until well blended. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and 1/2 cup water; mix on low speed until blended, scraping bowl often. Increase speed to medium, and beat 2 minutes. Remove 3/4 cup of the batter and put in a small bowl. Spoon reserved batter into prepared pan. To reserved batter, add cocoa and 1 tablespoon water; stir to combine. Place spoonfuls of chocolate batter on top of batter in pan. Using a knife, swirl chocolate batter, into pumpkin batter to marble. Bake 40 to 47 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely. Thank you so much for your visits sweet ladies, as you always make my day! Thanking the lovely hostesses for having me at their great parties. Just beautiful! Your guest are so lucky to find such a beautiful table every month. Big hug, Maria
ReplyDeleteyummy recipe, and beautiful tablescapes. Love your dishes. Thanks for sharing over at Thursday Fav Things. Prayers and hugs.
ReplyDeleteYou know I have a weakness for blue and white and so I'm biased towards favoring the first setting! Love them both though!

ReplyDeleteHi Fabby
Hummm, yummy recipe! Beautiful table settings!
Blessed days
I bet you have additional women attending your Rosary circle each month. I know I would attend just to see what beautiful tables you had set. Both tables are exquisite. Both tablecloths and both sets of china are so elegant. I love the way you plopped the little pumpkin into the center of your yummy looking cake. laurie
ReplyDeleteFabby both tables are lovely! The cake sounds wonderful. I love all of your touches of pumpkins on the big table. I am sure everyone feels so blessed to have you as the hostess!
ReplyDeleteBoth tables look stunning. You certainly went to a lot of trouble. Signs of your care and love.
ReplyDeleteThe calm atmosphere you created would certainly help all of you to pray with love and dignity. I hope your prayers are answered and that all your ladies continue to care for others through service and prayer. May those for whom you pray feel the hand of God and the love of your Rosary group.
Beautiful setting and dishes as usual, Fabby. I love the touches of Fall and love the blue and white dishes with the orange. Pretty!...Christine
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Fabby- I like the blue and white dishes wish splashes of the orange pumpkins. Those vintage dishes are wonderful. Love all your collections! You always make such delicious looking desserts- you are a great hostess!
ReplyDeleteYour tables are beautiful Fabby. I admire you. You live a rich and full life with family and friends and your faith guides you.
ReplyDeleteBig Texas Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
So good to be back. I love that we both used the Blue Onion for this week...great minds, and all that. May I please, ask for prayers for a young couple praying that this will be the month that they learn that they are having a baby. I love that we both have such precious groups of sisters in Christ. Thanks for inviting us for a peek. Cherry Kay
ReplyDeleteHello Fabby- what beautiful tables you always set! The dishes and details are lovely. Yum- the cake sounds delicious. Thanks for the recipe. I love the bird teacups in your header. They are gorgeous. Sounds like you have a nice inspirational time with your friends. Prayer is powerful :)
ReplyDeleteDearest Fabby,
ReplyDeleteWhat an elegant tablesetting with Alejandro's Grandmother's crocheted lace tablecloth. That is something to admire for decades and it makes such a special family heirloom!
Also love the blue china ware and the blue Delft of course.
BUT I also noticed your very cute dachshund knife rests! So clever for saving that pristine crocheted lace. Do you know that just while we were in Arizona, I did sell 12 Christofle knife rests (antique ones) and again this week a set of 11.
Makes me smile to know that there are still people with class!
Sending you hugs, I am very late reading blogs as I missed 2 nights due to Internet problems. I could enter Facebook and Google Mail and nothing else. Weird...
Mariette
Another gorgeous setting, Fabby! I love those blue and white dishes. So classic! The orange tea set is so pretty, too! Perfect for fall. Thanks for including the recipe. I host book club next Tuesday evening and was wanting a fallish dessert. This will be perfect!! I'll let you know how it goes. I've been so busy lately but hope to get back to blogging next week. Enjoy your weekend, friend!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I came by and saw your beautiful blue and white so nicely set out on such a lovely table. The cake looks so good. I like to use pumpkin this time of year and anything with chocolate calls to me quite loudly! I also enjoyed seeing your daughter's bright and cheery apartment! Hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteOnion skin porcelain? I'm going to have to remember that. I have a set of teacups that may be just that. My father-in-law brought them back with him from overseas many decades ago. Although he passed away about 7 years ago, they just came into my possession. I am eager to do a tablescape with them. I really like that term "onion skin" porcelain. I can relate to that. Those dishes are just gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt your prayer circle friends enjoy every visit to your home. You do so much to make them feel really special in the way you present the table and prepare such nice goodies to eat. It's not like, "Oh, just grab a couple of crackers out of the bag and make yourself a pitcher of Kool-Aid!" You truly put your heart into making something delicious and memorable.
Have a beautiful weekend!
Thanks for sharing your fabulous table settings with us AND the great pumpkin cake recipe too!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Onion dishes!
ReplyDeleteI suppose the cake recipie goes with fresh pumpkin too...
So beautiful...love the blue with pops of orange.
ReplyDeleteNot sure which table I'd like to sit at the most -- they're both beautiful! Love the gorgeous tablecloths, your knife rests, the pretty gourds, and that cake looks delicious. I'm sure all the ladies feel blessed to be there. There are so many needs in this world; it's wonderful to know faithful people pray the world over.
ReplyDeleteAll so pretty and with a delicious Pumpkin Chocolate Harvest Cake as well! Such special times :)
ReplyDeletePUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CAKE? YIKES! Now that is a recipe to try!
ReplyDeleteFabby, how lovely to visit you and to see you visited this morning! Thank you so much. Yes, I too am an autumn girl. Since I'm a teacher, the fall is a busy time for me, but a time of learning and changing, just like the leaves on the trees.
May you find much joy in all the creative beauty you present in your home!! Anita
Your tables look beautiful...blue and white is my favorite. I have a blue onion pattern coffee and tea set from my grandmother. What a wonderful reason to meet together each month!
ReplyDeleteMary Alice

ReplyDeleteHi Fabby! The blue table with the orange pumpkin accents is so striking--it really worked well together. I really liked your idea of putting the pumpkin instead the Bundt cake middle. The little table was really nice too (I've never heard of onion skin china!)
