Hello sweet friends!
Alejandro is sick in bed with a bad cold, so while I've been a 'sweet nurse,' and the fact that I feel alone, as he's busy been sick, watching TV and working with his computer... I decided to get busy myself and started to look at all my dirty and dark-gray silver in the antique buffet.
I gathered them all and headed for the kitchen, determined to start my chore, Asap!
Here is my 'shining silver' after polishing it like a mad women...one and a half hours later!
All of a sudden I felt like screaming...hi-yo Silverrrrr...lol!
You all remember that great cowboy TV show from the 60's, 'The Lone Ranger,' who had a horse named 'Silver' and dad, my brothers and me never missed it, hehehe..
I also created a table for lunch tomorrow, when we'll be four, with my new 'balsa-wood' place mats. Balsa wood is very light weight and light in color, like a cream beige and there's a lot around here and there are very pretty products made from it as well.
I found these very pretty cut out place mats, which I know you would've bought them too, if you saw them.
They're made here, in Ecuador.
Ok, here goes my lovely silver.
The antique Belgium buffet had dirty, dark gray silver for so long; sadly displayed on top of it, as the last time I buffed and shined and polished them was last October for a dinner party...hehe.. |
I'm so happy and proud of my work so I wanted to share before I forget to shine them again... not that I loved doing it, either, lol! |
Shining, ha! |
This antique piece has a tier where I have the small silver and sterling heirlooms. The antique Dutch teaset is pewter, so no need to clean! |
My lunch table for Monday. I used my 'Spanish country dishes, I haven't taken them out in a very long time.' |
I loved these 'balsa-wood,' cut out place mats I bought the other day. I have eight of them. The painted finish is just like the 'Spanish country dishes' I used for this setting. |
I know these dishes don't make a great contrast with the placemats, but I liked the softness of it, like 'beige on beige.' |
I also made yesterday some 'Italian Anisette Cookies' hubby loves. The recipe is at the end of this post. |
I love the contrast the placemats make on the wood table. Some of you know hubby bought this gorgeous vintage 'French' table a couple of weeks ago. In the back side board my new blue and white finds. |
I'm still admiring the lovely carvings of the vintage French table, which is what made Alejandro decide on it. |
The amber wine stems are 'Italian' and the water etched glasses are 'Bohemian-Czech Republic.' |
Thank you so much for coming sweet friends, as you always make my day! Thanking the gracious hostesses for having me at their great parties. LOVE, FABBY Italian Anisette Cookies with SprinklesIngredients:COOKIE

I love all your silverware. That reminds me, I need to clean mine too, so much work and I dread doing it, lol. I love your table, Fabby. I love white on white or even white on cream or vice versa. And you are right about the wood placemats. They are gorgeous, wish they were available here. I hope Alejandro feels better....Christine

Good Morning Fabby, Your silverware is beautiful and now that it is all shiny and bright, it looks spectactular. I remember the Lone Ranger....it was a television programme which we watched when I was a small girl.
ReplyDeleteFabby, as always your table looks beautiful. I really love the balsa wood placemats and yes I would buy them if I saw them. The photograph which you took from above, makes the placemats look almost delicate.
Can I ask you, what is the name of your cutlery.... I love it, it is so beautiful.
Thank you for the recipe for Anisette Cookies, I am really looking forward to baking them.
I do hope Alejandro feels better soon.
Have a wonderful week.
Best Wishes
Daphne
This all looks so lovely. You have inspired me to do something special tomorro. It is a while since I felt like creating a special setting for us. Will try those cookies too.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up! I would have said more than Hi Ho silver if I had of polished all that! LOL! Love it though. But I am in love with your tablescape. The placemats are so different and I love different. Of course I love those dishes but I truly adore how you placed the cups with silverware together like that! I am always learning...and pinning away! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteDearest Fabby,
ReplyDeleteWhat a job for cleaning all the silver ware. We need to shine ours as well... Loving silver is one thing but it takes quite some work for keeping it look lovely!
Your Balsa wood placemats are very elegant.
Hope your husband's cold is a lot less at the moment.
I myself am like an invalid, my back hurts from a cold in the hot sun and perspiring... The change from outdoor to inside at times makes us pay for it! Hope in one more day I will be flexible and supple again! Need to do a lot of work ahead.
Hugs and happy final July days.
Mariette
Your silverware is simply stunning Fabby....I loveeee your gorgeous table.....your home is just beautiful sweetie....

Alejandro has such exquisite taste! Can he come here and teach Ramon? I don't think Ramon would know a good piece of furniture if it bit him on the nose! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou set quite a lovely table, my dear! The wood of the placemats is so delicate and light. Nothing like anything I've seen here. The way the placemat is cut really does look like lace!
Gorgeous table, and your silver is shining like a new dime! I know it's a pain to clean it, but it feels SO good when you're done and everything is gleaming!!! I do mine 3 times a year, and that's enough to make me crazy...but it looks SO good!!!
Have a beautiful week!
Fabby,
ReplyDeleteGorgeous silver display, dear friend!!!
I L O V E silver polishing days!!!
The transformation is so~o~o rewarding!
I once read the way to cut down on tarnish is to use your silver, daily!
Beautiful table!!!
Thank you for the cookie recipe!
Sending a prayer your way for your sweet husband's renewed health!
Fondly,
Pat
What a labor of love. Surely your tasty treats helped Hubby feel a bit better.
ReplyDeleteYour silver is stunning and so is that gorgeous tablescape. I love how you put your displays together, so beautiful. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me.
ReplyDeleteI hope he is feeling better, definitely should with a nurse baking his favorite treats! Love your table as always! Thanks for the recipe and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!
ReplyDeleteRuth
What a LOT of work but it looks so beautiful when all done.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a beautiful buffet you set! Lots of amazing silver pieces!I only have some serviing wear and forget to polish it until I go for it. Your spanish yellow dishes are so pretty, made me smile! My husband does oldtime radio reproductions and they do Lone Ranger. Fun to watch grown men making galloping sounds by beating plungers on their chest.Alan always plays Tonto.
ReplyDeleteFabby, all of your silver looks so pretty on the buffet! I love to display mine right after I have spent some time polishing it all up. The shine just makes me happy. I love your setting, as well. Hope Alejandro is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely tea setting. Love your silver. And the cookies look yummy.

ReplyDeleteHi Fabby: I want to first thank you for your wise words today. I need to think about that more. I love your new table and your new placemats. As usual your table is stunning, with or without shiny silver. Sending hugs your way. Martha
ReplyDeleteYou've encouraged me to go polish my silver! I'm usually really busy so it is lower on my priority list, but I love the way yours shines and looks so happy. Thanks for linking up today!

Hi Fabby,
ReplyDeleteYour silver is glistening and looks so pretty, not an easy feat cleaning silver, I dislike the job but love the outcome.
Your new placemats are beautiful and I think they they look perfect on
your new table, a beauty by the way. Would never have thought they
were balsa wood.
A lovely tablescape as well. Also loved the view out the window.
Amazing.........
Blessings, Nellie
It sure sparkles now Fabby! I love how you set your table and all your accessories that you use!
ReplyDeleteYou made and excellent choice purchasing that dining table and chairs plus buffet. I love the placemats and the beige dishes because it is soft not a bold color. I really, really, really, really enjoyed the scene through your windows. What a scenic view! Nice job doing the polishing of silver. I'm so proud of you doing this while earning your nurse's cap taking care of your sweet hubby.

ReplyDeleteYour silver is drop dead gorgeous!! And those place mats are stunning!!
Yum!! Italian cookies!! Love them! There is a huge Italian population here and I grew up with many friends whose Mom's and Nonny's made Italian cookies.....

Polishing silver can be quite a chore luckily my husband is excellent at it thanks to the United States Marine Corps! Your silver is fabulous thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose are my favorite cookies! I love them! I had to tell you that first.....
ReplyDeleteSecond.....I love to polish silver....I am always happy doing it. I tend to sing! I know I must be crazy....but it is a peaceful, quiet time. I also love the patina when it gets dirty!
Crazy as I am......I need to tell you your chargers are wonderful! I love your table! It is really relaxing and serene, but my eyes are still on the COOKIES! lol
I may just have to make some.
Have a great day!
Blessings My Friend,
It is always so enjoyable to visit and see your lovelies :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you displayed all your silver. Your home is beautiful
ReplyDeleteOh Fabby, I love your gorgeous silver pieces! I don't know which I love more, the domed server or the tilt tea?! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Patti

ReplyDeleteJulie
Hi Fabby, Long time no see... Hope all is well with you, dear friend. You have an amazing collection of silverware (and everything else!!). Well done making them sparkle :) The table looks great - as usual! Hope hubby feels better soon. Pink hugs from Australia♥ ~Pernilla
ReplyDeleteOh you have shamed me now. Mine is all in a crappy cabinet in the garage, black as tar. I am hoping for a new cabinet to display it in soon, so I guess I will be forced to polish it! Thanks for the kick in the pants.
ReplyDeleteJust love the view out your window!
ReplyDeleteFabby, your home is filled with beautiful things! I try to keep up with polishing silver pieces, and in fact worked on polishing some just this week. It's indeed a chore.
ReplyDeleteHope Alejandro feels better soon.
Oh Fabby! You must have been busy all week. You have so much beautiful silver! I hope hubby is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this post for Fresh-Cut Friday. It's the perfect addition! :)
Have a great weekend.

Hi Fabby ... it's my lil'princess who will be 5 in November. My big boy turns 8 in September!! You are right though, time flies :D Can't believe Lily is stating school after Christmas. My baby girl is growing up!! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs
ReplyDeleteSilver is beautiful, but what a job to polish!
ReplyDeleteWe only polish it before Christmas, and I am so glad my daughter volunteers to do it...
Fabby, you have such a gorgeous view from your home, high above the hills, overlooking such beauty...all very appetizing, indeed! Your cookies look delicious, your silverware, shiny and bright. Thanks for sharing all the loveliness!
ReplyDeletePoppy
Fabby, you're too cute! Love the Hi-Yo Silver!! You have a gorgeous collection and I especially love the pewter set. Hope your sweetheart is feeling better. Those scrumptious cookies surely would have helped. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs.
Jann
Beautiful silver Fabby! The cookies sound delicious!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Fabby, Your beautiful antique Belgium buffet looks fabulous sporting it's freshly polished display of silver and your new blue and white finds are lovely displayed on the sideboard behind the luncheon table. The balsa wood placemats are a wonderful find, a beautiful contrast to the wood finish on the table your sweet Alejandro gave to you. The graceful legs and and beautiful carving on this lovely table are certainly something to admire. I do hope the Italian cookies and the the pretty table setting helped your hubby feel better.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! What a collection Fabby, those silver pieces are making me jealous. I'm guessing Alejandro is better now since your going on that trip? hope so. Love your Spanish setting too, you just make everything extra-special always dear!
