Hi my lovely ladies from all over the world! I hope you had a terrific 4th. OF JULY today, Wednesday the 4th. I will be going out for dinner with friends, so mine it's not over yet!! Hope you all had lots of hot-dogs, lol..
I made a salmon with veggies steamed in a bamboo steamer basket I always wanted to try and was curious about. I bought it while I was visiting my grands for Victoria's birthday, which I will post too one of these days. I always wanted to make something in this steamer, besides the fact that it's healthier, with Omega3, Fatty Acid and lighter all the way!! I thought of Marty, from A Stroll Thru Life, while cooking cause she always makes great and light recipes lately..it only takes 10 minutes to cook and it's way delish! It was fun to cook everything all at once and so fast too. Very interesting and fun, besides, now I understand why orientals are so thin!!
Here are the veggies I put in it with nothing on, just wash them and that's it! You can add any dressing later.
Here are the two pieces of salmon I had marinated and left in the fridge for two hours in a Ziploc bag with the following: 2 Tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, pepper to taste, 4 fresh and mashed garlic cloves, 1 teaspoon Olive oil and finally 2 Tablespoons water. (I added no salt cause soy sauce is enough for me, though). While it's in the fridge turn the salmon a couple of times Than take it out and in the first tier basket place a piece of parchment paper and on top the salmon with a little of the marinate-liquid.
I added two pieces of red pepper, or more if you wish.
Now I have in the bottom tier basket my veggies and in the top one, my salmon..cover and let steam on top of the wok with a little water on, and the basket goes on top..just like you would any other steamer, though. After only 10 minutes it's perfect and dinner is ready.
Here is what this dish looks like and take my word for it..IT IS YUMMY!! You could add to your plate some white cooked rice, or just like the one I served for me..hubby loves it with the rice too!
Very healthy and light in calories. You can do pork pieces with vegetables, chicken breast and shrimp too. I bet anyone will even loose weight eating this way, lol..
Thanks my terrific friends for your generous and kind comments you always leave me and I receive them with a big smile as I appreciate them so very much!!
